Solved pkg: wrong architecture: FreeBSD:12.0:amd64 instead of FreeBSD:12:amd64

I just upgraded from 12.0 to 12.1 and got error: Installed packages to be UPGRADED: pkg: 1.12.0 -> 1.12.0_1 Number of packages to be upgraded: 1 7 MiB to be downloaded. Proceed with this action? [y/N]: y pkg...

Root partition (on ZFS) not mounting after upgrading from 10.1 to 10.2

I had the same issue and it's been covered pretty much step by step. I tried to find what the error codes were for the mountroot prompt but couldn't find anything useful. After a day or two of trying I got it to work. This is more or less what happened. Upgrading from FreeBSD 10.2-RELEASE to...

Win -> BSD -> BSD -> Win Tunnel

So just establish a tunnel from [BSD B] to [BSD A] that forwards all the ports? I can't connect from [BSD A] to [BSD B] without a -R tunnel already established. So I'm not sure how it would work with just 1.

Win -> BSD -> BSD -> Win Tunnel

Thanks for the reply. I still had an error here or there, but this is what did end up working. First I establish a connection from [BSD B] to [BSD A] so I can later connect back to it. Next, I go back through that tunnel with: I believe the part I was missing was -g (which allows...

Win -> BSD -> BSD -> Win Tunnel

I'm trying to establish an RDP session from a windows machine at site A, and have it connect to a windows machine at site B. Both windows systems are identical. Windows at site B can not be connected to directly (from the outside), so I have to go through a reverse/dynamic tunnel. So this is...

    Problem installing from ports

Majid: did you ever get this figured out? I'm having the same issue and just can't get it to work. I'm working with the PC-BSD version and somethings are just slightly different so I'm not sure where my problem can be. And to save some the hassle of reading: 20101208: AFFECTS: autotools...

How you came to unix world!

Hmm, I thought I had mentioned this before, but here it is again... Many years ago, while visiting a friend in college (UCSB) I asked him about a big book he had. He responded, "nah, you wouldn't understand it. It's like windows." Well, that didn't go over very well with me lol. At that time...

Has this volcano made you rethink your disaster recovery plans?

A few other people have said the same thing! But I told them, "what good does a gun do when others with bigger guns/more ammo are on the streets too?" That's when it comes down to 'intelligence!'

    Recommendation for FreeBSD online school

When I first inquired about FBSD in the mid 90's I was told "It's like windows... you wouldn't understand." Well, at that point in time I had 0 use for any BSD. But as time went on it became appealing. From having come across VERY generous people who 'guided' me along my path of learning I...

Has this volcano made you rethink your disaster recovery plans?

Not so much because of the volcano but because of the earthquakes - both local and no so local (americas). So now I've been looking into things such as food and water. I've picked up a 12 LED lantern that takes 4 D batteries and let me tell you, it's worth it! It provides a lot of great light...

    Using Atom for server?

Just a guess but I'm sure a fairly small solar panel could keep that battery charged. But then again, that is in Sunny California. When I worked in a garbage can, we ran Palm Pilots attached to a small printer (for reports and receipts/checks). They had a pretty cool set up: 1 palm pilot...

    Using Atom for server?

I think I saw it mention it being able to be used with an SSD, but needing an attachment/riser or something. But I could also be confusing it with a different mobo. Take a look at the manual and it should mention it somewhere.

Help with converting SQL to mysql

Hello! I am not very familiar with mysql or sql in general... but I would like to convert a sql db to a mysql db. I've searched around and it seems like it's possible. My question is, is this something that is difficult or fairly easy to do? From my work with mysql it doesn't strike me...
