I have a Soundblaster Live! in my FreeBSD box now.
It's a PIII desktop with a 500 mhz processor and
512MB of memory running FreeBSD 8.0.
I use it a lot for listening to mp3s with 2.1
Creative speakers. It sounds good.
I've thought about upgrading my sound card and
the Creative Audigy...
I get the same thing. I've installed Moonlight on FreeBSD 8.0.
about:plugins on firefox shows:
Silverlight Plug-In
File name: libmoonloader.so

as enabled. But when I go to a sight like jibtv above I
just see a label that says

This doesn't...
Thanks for the replies. I decided to install flash10
following the instructions in the handbook and it
works real well!
The only thing that held me up was I had to uninstall
flash4.

I used flash 9 for a while on FreeBSD 7.1 using
the instructions at this site:
http://www.freebsdnews.net/2008/11/04/flash-9-for-freebsd-71-howto/
I upgraded to 8.0 over the weekend and tried to follow
this same procedure and could not build the linux

I have a PIII running FreeBSD 7.1 with 2 IDE HDDs, one
13GB (where the OS is installed) and a second 8GB drive
that has one filesystem called disk2 mainly for music.
I am going to replace the 8GB drive with an 80GB drive.
When I installed the 8GB drive I followed the instructions

Re: flash player
Here are instructions for setting up flash 9 on FreeBSD:
http://www.freebsdnews.net/2008/11/04/flash-9-for-freebsd-71-howto/
I am using it on FreeBSD 7.1 and it works really well.
I upgraded to 7.1 over the weekend and followed the
procedures to set up flash 9. Nice. And it works with
almost every web page I've tried!

I'm an idiot :-). I got my versions wrong, running
7.0 and ready to upgrade to 7.1! 7.0 has worked so
well I never even think about the version. OK, so
when I upgrade...
Is there a package of Firefox 3 or do you have to
build it from the ports collection?
I understand the procedure...
I'm running FreeBSD 7.1 now and thinking of upgrading
to 7.2. When you install 7.2 is there a package of
Firefox 3 or do you have to build it from the ports
collection? How about flash 9? I found this article:

Has anybody tried...
I'm currently running FreeBSD on a Dell PIII.
It has a 13GB HD that came with the box when
I got it. It's getting a little tight, not much
room for music.
Next year I'm planning to buy a bigger HD and
install 7.1 on it but I'm wondering if I'll
run into limitations with this older PC...
I support AIX at IBM and first installed FreeBSD at
home (in the 90's) because it seemed closest to AIX.
I found it easy to install and maintain.
Later I went through a period of running Slackware
and liked it but eventually came back to FreeBSD.
My wife runs Ubuntu because that's what...
I always come back to FreeBSD since 2.4, and it
always works, running 7.0 on a Dell PIII 500 mhz
now and I never even think of it as an old machine.
My workstation :-).
I gave up on it. I have 2 computers (FreeBSD and Win2K) on
a KVM switch and if I'm going to go to one of those glossy
flash 9 websites I use the Win2K pc, but if I can do it
with flash 7 I use FreeBSD.
