I installed FreeBSD all went fine with the kern-developer standard.
I developed a wrinkle not quite related to FreeBSD. I will get back to this in a little bit.
Thanks for your advice LateNite. So far, so good.

If I am not mistaken, all of the info about ACPI is extracted from ram.
If the Hardware is having issues or the ACPI kernel module is buggy there is not much you can do unless you can debug and help write patches.
ACPI loads before...
An FYI,
My router was altered from a rootkit/trojan. Web travels were being redirected. I have reset and reconfigured it with one problem.
The printed MAC on the device doesn't match any of the MAC's in the routers System Monitor page.
Unfortunately my router runs Linux with Busybox on an...

I chose kern-developer.
Portsnap doesn't appear to working from user or root.
I have used the following commands.

How can you protect your web server/s from these attacks?
Is a there a need to install an IDS?
Are there specific requirements for different web servers?
Or
Are some more prone to this attack than others?

1.3.1. Xen: the engine that powers XenServer
Xen Server 5.0 Documentation: Section 3.4.1
From the above info, if I understand it correctly, you can not run an unmodified kernel of an OS in Xen Server if you do not have Intel-VT or AMD-V enabled in BIOS.
Back to my original question; Does ESXi...
For XenServer, that is how I understand it from what I have read.
I will have to review what I read and reply with links to the info.
Xen= Open source. Has version 3.x.x
XenServer= Closed Source. Operated by Citrix version 5.x (based on Xen opensource).
Documentation for one does not equal...
Does ESXi bare metal need support from BIOS enabling of AMD-v or Intel-VT?
Otherwise defaults to a 32bit version?
How XenServer 5 works, you must enable AMD-v or Intel-VT in the BIOS.
If your hardware doesn't support enabling in the BIOS then XenServer uses KVM not bare metal.
This limits...
Will the Xen Server 5 Linux Client, from CD2, install in FreeBSD with Linux Emulation?
Has anyone tried it?
I believe the Linux Client only runs on 32bit systems.
I've got 5-10 ??? a day for at least a month.
And with every answer leading to more questions, it's a snowball.

Hello,
I would like to see a Virtualization forum section.
Virtualbox for FreeBSD masses is getting closer.
I think this might be useful for those interested in setting up virtual servers like ESXi or XenServer and discussing all types virtualization, including as it relates to FreeBSD...

Another promising new battery technology already in use in cars:
A123 Systems
These batteries are 10,000,000 more conductive than standard lithium ion batteries.
They also pack more charge per volume.
Don't know if they are developing any for laptops though.

I was told that if I want to do things ASAP in programming with a limited background, try Object Oriented Programming.
Would Squeak be a good choice to begin in OOP?

A little background on ACPI.
What does ACPI do?
The ACPI standard brings Power Management into operating system control (OSPM), as opposed to the previous BIOS central system, which relied on platform specific firmware to decide power management and configuration policy.
The ACPI...
Finding out which wifi is supported by which OS can be a pain asking in the forum.
Luckily someone went through the trouble of building a nice graph at wikipedia.

Hope this helps.
I'll have to read up on compiling xorg without hal.
I'm using the default install from CD. I didn't check which graphics driver was loading.
