    stable/13, aesni and geli

I do not think that GELI becomes deprecated, I would raise an objection against that. One still needs GELI for encrypting swap and like you said also for ppl who are still using UFS2, like me on cloud droplets and on machines with little RAM. AESNI is also not away, it is just not built as...

    stable/13, aesni and geli

Yes, to me it also shows Crypto: accelerated software on 13.0-BETA3 But so far it just looks like they are doing some changes, so I would first wait for 13.0-RELEASE.

    Shell PPPoE watcher script

Very good. I work that ideas in. mpd5 I did not know of, thanks for that tip as well.

    Shell PPPoE watcher script

Since ppp program does not restart once remote echo requests stop, and we can not send our own echo requests, because the provider does reply with bongled ones, we need a script to watch PPP(oE): /root/bin/watch_ppp.sh #!/bin/sh export dslif=epair1b export dslpkts=0 export dslfails=0 export...

12.1-RELEASE-p9 jail vnet nic with vlans created in a jail panic

Just wanted to quick remind here, that with 12.1-RELEASE-p9 when you take a re0 (or maybe any NIC) into vnet into a jail, create a few vlans (like in this case vdsl and iptv), and shut the jail down (in order to restart the jail for example), it crashes the kernel. It panics and then reboots...

    Shell periodic/daily/800.scrub-zfs

So, I made a diff to the scrub-zfs script for daily periodic because I have split 2 disks to two separate zpools, one unencrypted for freebsd system and one GELI encrypted for data. It seems to work, but it only filters out mirror vdevs. I have to add all of them not to match not existing...

    ZFS MARVELL 88SE9230 broken?

Yes, I looked at it, but now I have ASmedia in and I also did start scrubbing on all ports (all drives) and there are no timeouts any more. Of course the workaround of setting the speed to slower SATA2 and disabling MSI might have helped on my broken Marvell card too, but that is no solution. I...

    ZFS MARVELL 88SE9230 broken?

Now they should be visible. Here my theory graphically again: One can see in "all_ahcich.txt" attachment that problems started suddenly on Sep 10 03:23:34.

    ZFS MARVELL 88SE9230 broken?

Yes, I can remember Promise controllers, but that was not a time ago, that was 20 years ago!!!! LOL! Yes, mine shows some weird kind of green(ish) fluid comming out of top and bottom of the controller chip. And yes, it also works quite normal, when you booted up, but after load (zfs scrub) it...

    ZFS MARVELL 88SE9230 broken?

I could not try that, because I have there 3 PCIe cards above each other, so no way to put a finger on it while running, one would need to put it into another computer as single card and then measure the temperature. Those chips should have a sensor in them ;-) that would be great!

    ZFS MARVELL 88SE9230 broken?

    I have had on my MARVELL 88SE9230 card the following: Oct 18 05:14:54 constance kernel: (ada5:ahcich7:0:0:0): Error 5, Periph was invalidated Oct 18 05:14:54 constance kernel: (ada5:ahcich7:0:0:0): READ_FPDMA_QUEUED. ACB: 60 08 c8 3e ae 40 07 01 00 00 00 00 Oct 18 05:14:54 constance kernel...

NTPd fails to sync when DNS used

OK, then why it does the same, when you run service ntpd restart?

"error resolving pool 0.freebsd.pool.ntp.org" at startup

DNS is available all the time. You can try that by service ntpd restart and you will see the same problem. It think chrony may be trying a different name resolving route and that makes it work then.

"error resolving pool 0.freebsd.pool.ntp.org" at startup

You seem to have the same issue like me here https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/ntpd-fails-to-sync-when-dns-used.71670/

NTPd fails to sync when DNS used

Hi, I have a freshly updated 12.0-RELEASE-p8 FreeBSD 12.0-RELEASE-p8 r350387 GENERIC amd64 where NTPd stopped working saying: Jul 28 14:32:28 wasp ntpd[1194]: giving up resolving host ntp1.hetzner.de: servname not supported for ai_socktype (9) Jul 28 14:32:28 wasp ntpd[1194]: giving up...

    Solved 12.0-RELEASE-p6 vnet jail

So! I have an update !!! IMPORTANT !!! I have found what caused it. It has nothing to do with the versions, but with a kind of strange configuration. Because I did not want to track what the name of the interface will be after starting a vnet, because you can not possibly know what epair gets...

PF PF synproxy broken in 11-STABLE

See, I do not have HEAD anywhere near. The best shot for me is testing on 12-BETA1.
