    Problem with jails after upgrade to 9.1

    Hi folks: After upgrading my FreeBSD system to 9.1. I did a binary update. It was quite problematic since the root slice was not enough to hold the backup data and the new binaries. I had to delete the swap partition and increase the filesystem size. Now I am having problems starting the jails...

    Forget your love

    Tipical :). She is testing you. So far so good there are good news for you. You don't have to forget her as you can have her! Ignore any attempt from her to discourage you. Assume is all a big lie because it is. Pretend it never existed. Woman lie and act a lot. Show her you are not easily taken...

    Connection from inside Jail

    Thanks for your replies folks. I just modified /etc/hosts inside jail so the domains resolves to jail's IP as a workaround. I could not use jail IP directly as I have there several virtual hosts and that works with the domain name of the host.

    Connection from inside Jail

    Hi folks, I am looking to make one of the jails in my server to be able to connect to itself using the external IP. So you understand me. I want to access my domain that points to the server IP from inside the jail as if I were accessing it from the outside. But I am totally lost. I try rdr and...

    Favorite FreeBSD Feature?

    Favorite: Reliability, Jails, License, Binary upgrades (this helps a lot upgrading remote servers and survive a reboot), Community, Modular design, Linux emulator. Support for some windows network drivers. Less crazy than Linux. In Linux you get a zillion unusable stuff that just adds noise...

    Unrealircd inside FreeBSD jail

    But how do I know it is unrealircd? In other words how do I get the list of available services? Sorry if the question looks noob but I prefer that to ignorance ;). In any case I think installation scripts could give a little hand to newcomers sysadmins. If I remember well MySQL, Postfix...

    Unrealircd inside FreeBSD jail

    Yes I know, I had to do that with mysql and sendmail, but thanks for reminding me. I am going to try @swa information. ;) this is what I was missing: /usr/local/etc/rc.d/unrealircd start I tried /etc/rc.d/ but forgot to list /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ to locate the control script :e Also...

    Unrealircd inside FreeBSD jail

    Hi: I am trying to deploy unrealircd inside one of my jails and I can't find much information (a guide or tutorial). It is even missing details in unrealircd website claiming it can run in FreeBSD 6 (old). I reached the point of compiling the port and configuring unrealircd.conf. But so far no...

    C++, 64 bit and mulithreads

    If you want a recommendation, use .net (you can use managed c++ with that) and forget about portability issues memory handling and a big etcetera. And also forget about picking library for the GUI and developing the interface is declarative (no need to write code there). You can connect to...

    C++, 64 bit and mulithreads

    At high level things are not way too different. Most of the times you have to make sure you are playing nice with pointers arithmetics as in such case pointers are wider. Data types remain the same. In some cases the compiler could promote some integer types to be wider at low level but that is...

    Unable find Java JDK downloadable binaries (new to FreeBSD)

    Not for me. Like 15 days ago I deployed a brand new 8.2 and even had to Google for some dependencies that I found in some russian server untrusted by me (hope the build scripts checked at least some hash) and deploy also the source packages in some folder in the ports system. Then I was able to...

    Cannot connect to internet from jail

    I actually do have connectivity from the jail is just incredibly slow to the point it times out constantly: # telnet www.google.com 80 Trying 173.194.65.104... telnet: connect to address 173.194.65.104: Operation timed out Trying 173.194.65.99... Connected to www.l.google.com. Escape...

    Unable find Java JDK downloadable binaries (new to FreeBSD)

    Deploying java in Freebsd FreeBSD has always been a nightmare. All of my computers have it installed and I always need to refresh the steps, agree to the license and manually download source packages here and there. I think that is taking away users from the FreeBSD world alone. I think would be...

    Raspberry Pi

    I think they will be supported soon. With that price they will become a mass market thing! Well unless somebody closes specifications for the chip or something.

    FreeBSD and power failures

    Yes I know. I have like 4 power supplies burnt around even using backup. I purchased a good one recently for my personal computer at home. Very expensive, OCZ 700W ModTream Pro 80+. And the backup. I am going to get a power regulator too eventually. Yes I know what you mean. Data losses can be...

    FreeBSD and power failures

    Wow great! Thanks for sharing! I will be checking the compatibility in case someday I need to buy a new backup and if current one is supported I will be running that daemon for sure!

    Maybe this helps as well: from the jail # ifconfig re0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 1500 options=9b<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,VLAN_MTU,VLAN_HWTAGGING,VLAN_HWCSUM> ether 00:16:3e:85:6e:7d inet 10.0.0.1 netmask 0xffffffff broadcast 10.0.0.1...
