ANNOUNCE: 64 bit Custom XFCE build available (based on 8.0-RELEASE-p1)

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, this is entirely possible. I suggest of course using ports to install KDE or GNOME, since the packages in the official DVD will be older than the one you already installed and may cause problems.

Announcing: FreeBSD GNOME-based custom iso released

I must admit I am not much of a GNOME user myself, at least when it comes to FreeBSD (where I mostly use XFCE). I do use it on some linux machines, but I find it a bit overkill on FreeBSD, esp. when it comes to upgrading. That said, after installing in and configuring it on my test system last...

Announcing: FreeBSD Custom Build ISO available

The custom build is still FreeBSD all the way. It only supports what the base system does - although I can build it with different versions of base (7.2-RELEASE, 7.2-STABLE, CURRENT etc). It will never support anything more (or less) than FreeBSD. What I will do at some point though, is to...

Windows Vista & FreeBSD (dual-boot problem)

Good move, required for the instructions that will follow ;) Although the MBR was not installed, sysinstall marked your FreeBSD partition active, hence you are always booting FreeBSD. As root, execute: fdisk -a /dev/ad0 (substitute ad0 with your actual disk device name) Change the...
