Re: Firewall for Mysql Port
You neglected to mention it also hosts your METIN2 server, but I'm sure that was intentional, since it's what got you clobbered yesterday.
This is the same problem as your first post as @Metin2HFM (created yesterday), now disguised as your first post as new user...
Re: FLOOD on port 3306
I only responded to your original post to set your level of expectations: you should not expect help on this forum for issues related to METIN2 servers, including firewalls. Editing your original post to remove the reference to "METIN2" does not change anything...
Well, the first thing that comes to mind is a cron job, maybe even one of the periodic daily jobs since it happens at the same time every day. Have you checked into those sources as a potential cause?
Re: Help with install/update of SVN and Python
Just had a thought. Since you are on FreeBSD-10-CURRENT, do you have /usr/bin/svnlite? That can be used in place of devel/subversion to check out FreeBSD source.
Re: Help with install/update of SVN and Python
So after you updated your ports tree, did you get the same error trying to install devel/subversion? Can you copy the entire install log to bpaste.net and provide a link? I'd like to see the whole log.
Your card is a Matrox MGA G200. It's being assigned a "vesa" driver because there is no native driver loaded. If you are loading an nvidia driver, that's definitely not going to work. See Matrox MGA-200 supported?. It's from 2011, but the comments from @SirDice and @wblock@ are probably just as...
Re: Help with install/update of SVN and Python
My first thought is an out of date ports tree. This would be the most obvious cause. When was the last time you updated your ports tree?
Second thought is CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS statements in /etc/make.conf. If you have them, comment them out or remove...
When you run as a non-root user, do you have an .xinitrc file in that user's home directory? Sounds like it might be missing. The .xinitrc file is normally where the command would reside to start the desktop or window manager, which in your case would be XFCE. If startx works for the root user...
After the re-install of FreeBSD-10.0, if you plan on building from source, remember to run portsnap fetch update before you build any ports. This would not apply if you plan on using packages.
If you've done this, do not also try to install from ports. Mixing packages and ports can lead to problems.
Maybe FreeBSD Virtualbox will help. I also remember a topic a while back about this, so I will see if I can find it.
Maybe you need to modify your ~/.initrc file to start your window manager (i.e., x11-wm/xfce4) of choice?
On your FreeBSD guest VM, you can install the emulators/virtualbox-ose-addtions as a package:
pkg install virtualbox-ose-additions
or from ports:
cd...
You did note from the instructions in the FreeBSD Handbook that you have to run % nspluginwrapper -v -a -i for each user? Could that be the problem here?
portsnap fetch update should be sufficient to bring your tree current. Note that you can combine the fetch and update sub-commands in a single command for simplicity.
