Troubles with plex media server (looking for servers)

Had the same issue and switched to using net/serviio instead. Works fine from a jail and does what I need. You could also take a look at multimedia/emby-server as an alternative for plex.

What cache settings to use for freebsd-update reverse proxy

A late reaction but I managed to get things working by adjusting some of the defaults used: proxy_cache_path /var/cache/nginx levels=1:2 keys_zone=freebsd_update:10m max_size=500M inactive=24h; This will allow for 10 million keys, maximum cache size of 500MB and keys are removed after 24...

What cache settings to use for freebsd-update reverse proxy

I'm using the directions from https://wiki.freebsd.org/VladimirKrstulja/Guides/FreeBSDUpdateReverseProxy to setup a reverse proxy for freebsd-update but I was wondering what are the preferred cache settings. I need to upgrade 6 jails so this cache should save some download time. I've added the...

ISC DHCP has no interface to listen to

I've indeed moved the jail from its own mapped localhost IP to a shared host IP and now things work as expected. I kinda followed the instructions found here: https://dan.langille.org/2013/08/18/creating-a-freebsd-jail-to-run-dhcp-and-dns/. This includes some devfs configuration to allow for the...

    Copying FreeBSD to larger disk

I've done something similar while doing a fresh install of FreeBSD 11.0. I just copied the ZFS filesystems using zfs send and zfs receive to another pool, started the install and let it reformat the boot drive, and copied any files from the backup that I needed. If it is possible to attach both...

ISC DHCP has no interface to listen to

The problem for the DHCP server is that only interface lo2 has an IP address. Output from ifconfig: re0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 1500 options=8209b<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,VLAN_MTU,VLAN_HWTAGGING,VLAN_HWCSUM,WOL_MAGIC,LINKSTATE> ether...

ISC DHCP has no interface to listen to

I'm using an sysutils/py3-iocage as my jail manager and have created a jail for handling local DNS (dns/bind911) and DCHP (net/isc-dhcp43-server). I'm using a cloned lo2 interface using IP address 10.16.123.2. On the host system I forward DNS requests into the jail and this works like a charm...

What to use as replacement for named after 10.2 upgrade

I didn't use the +search argument but I must admit that I hadn't looked at the manual page either. Thanks for the info and I will add it to my list of tips and tricks.

What to use as replacement for named after 10.2 upgrade

I have everything up and running including name resolution for my local network. The strange thing is that with OS X I can just use a hostname for e.g. ssh but not for dig. The domain name was properly set by the DHCP server and also used in the OS X network settings.

    FreeBSD upgrade with beadm

I just did the same myself. See this link https://dan.langille.org/2015/03/13/upgrading-from-freebsd-9-3-to-freebsd-10-1-using-beadm-and-freebsd-update/ for more information on how to proceed.

What to use as replacement for named after 10.2 upgrade

I'm now using local_unbound and I can do normal and reversed lookups of both internal LAN and external addresses and hostnames. However, on my Mac I must use the full hostname including the domain name for a lookup. Need to figure out what that is all about as on my server I can use the hostname...

I'm currently upgrading my 9.3-RELEASE system to 10.2-RELEASE using the steps outlined in this article: https://dan.langille.org/2015/03/13/upgrading-from-freebsd-9-3-to-freebsd-10-1-using-beadm-and-freebsd-update/ The upgrade will remove the named configuration I'm using now for a simple local...
