LSI or Areca for port multiplier ?

Hi Guys. I have a super micro server with this controller : http://www.addonics.com/products/adsa3gpx8-4e.php Connected to and Addonics storage rack via 4 eSata ports and port multipliers to 10 disks using ZFS. It has been working fine but lately I have been experience some issues...

    99 idle and swapping?

I get that but where is should get worry about the performance ? when I have no ram free and I'm swapping like crazy or when the wired memory is basically 0 and the active memory is = total memory of system ? I remember that in Centos all the memory is cached and that is how appears in...

    99 idle and swapping?

Maybe the problem that I do not understand how to represent correctly the top information. If I see a system 99% idle with 14 GB of ram but 600M free I will think that is not really idle but I guess that the rest of the memory is wired "cached" so that is why the load average is 0 ?

    99 idle and swapping?

Yes it is right but this metric are from when the server has been ok normally I have 6GB of swap in use. The thing is of all my other FBSD 8.2 servers ( with way more taffic that this one) I never get to have 600 mb free of 14 GBs that is why I'm kinda thinking that is not normal. Thanks.

    99 idle and swapping?

Hi. I have a Supermicro server with FBSD 8.2 connected to a storagerack with 10 disk and a addonics card. It has been stable for almost a year but now is not been a good boy. I check traffic and process and I don't see anything weird, logs are normal except for some Ldap server not...

    Addonics sis3124 esata controller

Hi Guys. I have a Addonics controler connected to 10 HD using eSata on a Freebsd 8.2 AMD64 supermicro server. I haven't had any problems until now where where all of the sudden my server is eating all the memory and is kinda slow, I even add more memory but still same problem. So I...

    Adaptec 2020ZCR Supermicro FreeBSD 9

    So I followed your suggestion and this is what dmesg showed: aacd0: <RAID 1 (Mirror)> on aac0 aacd0: 34970MB (71619584 sectors) aacd1: <Volume> on aac0 aacd1: 34970MB (71619584 sectors) aacd2: <Volume> on aac0 aacd2: 34970MB (71619584 sectors) aacd3: <Volume> on aac0 aacd3: 139981MB (286681728...

    Adaptec 2020ZCR Supermicro FreeBSD 9

Phoenix then again thank you for answers. I understand what you said and this is why my storage server can see the drives directly connected to the RAID controller because the controller does not have any RAID config on it. When I installed this new server I didn't have any RAID config on it...

    Adaptec 2020ZCR Supermicro FreeBSD 9

I will check if I can do RAID0 with one drive, that is a good tip and thank you. But it sounds like a hack to me, isn't it? I have other servers with some LSI and sis3124 and I don't have this problem, in fact my storage system uses an Addonics sis3124 adapter with 10 disks connected to a port...

A broken hard drive in a RAID 1 array

Intel Raid Matrix RAIDs are the worst, I had exactly the same problem as you and after the reinstall I start using gmirror. I remember that I manage to boot up using the livecd.
