    Future of FreeBSD Design

After catching oysters from the C, wrestling waves infernal; All was well, I grabbed a shell and viewed my newest kernel. I looked forward to my C with brie, But my hope became regret. The seagulls awked, my face was shocked... There was nothing inside my .NET.

Facebook needs someone to make Linux as good as FreeBSD.

If they really wanted to help out the Linux kernel development side of things, they would work towards fixing the horrifying mess that is systemd.

The Good, the Bash & the Ugly: "Shellshock" Bug

I haven't installed it; I was going to until I found out about this bug. I'm willing to learn and embrace (what are for me) new things from the FreeBSD side of computing but I still like some of my Free Software tools from Debian GNU/Linux (e.g. Bash, gcc*, GNU Emacs**). ---------------- * I...

The Good, the Bash & the Ugly: "Shellshock" Bug

I'm doubly glad to hear that. This story broke right after I migrated my multimedia production desktop over from Debian GNU/Linux to FreeBSD so I was worried that that I was "out of the frying pan, into the fire."

The Good, the Bash & the Ugly: "Shellshock" Bug

I searched on the forums to make sure no one had posted this beforehand, as this is a rather alarming story making the rounds of news circuits. Source: New York Times Security Experts Expect ‘Shellshock’ Software Bug in Bash to Be Significant From the US National Institute of Standards and...

Video editor to add chapters via console

I use a program called HandBrake to do just this sort of thing. According to the command line guide, using the option -m or --markers should allow you to set markers. I am more familiar with the GUI version on different systems but this might be the solution for your issue.

Keyboard Input Vanishes Seconds After Loading GNOME

I did not see any AllowEmptyInput in xorg.conf. Also, when I tried to start a vanilla session of x with startx, I could not use my PS/2 keyboard, and later, my USB keyboard. The weird part is that I can still hit keys such as Caps Lock, Num Lock or Scroll Lock, or even shut down the system with...

    From Debian to FreeBSD

What I like to do is convert HTML to ePub (which is just a glorified HTML + CSS document anyway) through a program called calibre and read it on my e-ink device (in this case, a Nook Touch).

What have you learned from using FreeBSD?

How to use pkg_add which is in many respects similar to Debian GNU/Linux's apt-get install. How to use vi as I am a GNU Emacs person. To be honest, I enjoy elements from both but prefer Emacs. So far, I have had a very rocky start using FreeBSD. I can see some potential benefits to running...

Keyboard Input Vanishes Seconds After Loading GNOME

Currently posting from my Debian GNU/Linux system; I've just verified this same issue with an older PS/2 keyboard. This time I was able to use DuckDuckGo (Google search alternative) once before I lost keyboard input. I am going to shutdown Debian GNU/Linux (it is running on the exact same...

Keyboard Input Vanishes Seconds After Loading GNOME

You down with *BSD? Yah, you know me! Okay; I'm coming from a Debian GNU/Linux background, so FreeBSD's method of doing things is still somewhat new to me. I literally was typing "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." when the letter "k" was infinitely repeated. No, I haven't. Also...
