Thank you.
I just checked my /usr/local/etc/dsbmd.conf, and it has usermount = true
Now I tried to mount an NTFS partition using that same sysutils/dsbmc-cli as a normal user, as well as a regular FAT32 filesystem on another USB drive, and both of them worked perfectly.
I am starting to...
I created a second user with the name someuser, added it to wheel and operator, and it still didn't work.
I got the same output as I did before.
Scrolling through the man page for mount_fusefs, I see no mention of user mode (or uid) at all, so maybe it isn't supposed to be mounted as a normal...
Hello, everyone!
For quite a while now, I've had a problem mounting a USB exFAT partition via sysutils/dsbmd as a normal user.
Whenever I type in dsbmc-cli -m /dev/da1p3, exectution of dsbmc-cli simply freezes, and while pressing ctrl+c gets me back to the shell, the mount process is still...
Thanks for the tip, nrgmilk !
A small tip if you, like me, couldn't change the user agent in Firefox manually (I must have done something wrong):
There's an extension for Firefox, called User-Agent Switcher that can be installed. To get it to change the user agent to Linux, click the new icon...
I am trying to install java/openjdk12.
As part of doing that, I prefer to run make checksum-recursive to fetch the required distfiles before attempting to install the port using ports-mgmt/portmaster (I prefer to download the required distfiles one by one rather than multiple ones at the same...
Hello!
Over the last couple of months, I've built my own custom FreeBSD 12.0 ISO which included some minor changes, mainly in the skel folder to include Desktop, Documents, etc.
Now I want to also include the full documentation in my custom release.
What I've done so far is to create /usr/doc...
I have the same problem. Just like OP, I use the newes nVidia driver and GNOME 3.28 and get the same error message. When attempting to start GDM, only a black screen appears (no cursors or anything). Then, if I do startx (which executes without problems) and then gnome-session or mutter, I get...
It seems like the past few updates of ports-mgmt/portmaster fixed the problem. Yesterday (I think it was), when I updated a few Python ports using ports-mgmt/portmaster and flavours, the update completed without any problems. :D Marking the thread as solved.
I hope Portmaster gets fixed soon. :)
But in the meantime, I'll stick with make FLAVOR=py27 and make FLAVOR=py36 (both Python 2.7 and 3.6 are installed) as a "workaround" as indicated by /usr/ports/UPDATING
Thanks for your help, MarcoB. :)
Hello!
Today when I was updating my installed ports, I noticed the following from the /usr/ports/UPDATING file:[...]make FLAVOR=py36 install[...] I am running FreeBSD on my stationary PC and I do not see the need to use more advanced tools than ports-mgmt/portmaster for installing and upgrading...
Me too. One workstation and Portmaster works fine for me too, that is until flavours were added to python ports on 30 November. And yes, I do know I might be a little bit late to this "party". :)
Thanks for the tip.
Sadly, setting hw.psm.tap_timeout=0 in /etc/sysctl.conf (and then rebooting to make sure the changes were applied) did not do anything at all.
Hello!
I have a question about the touchpad on my Acer Aspire VN7-791g.
After doing a bit of digging myself it turns out that the touchpad on this computer is a Synaptic touchpad connected via USB since it shows up as the following:
dmesg | grep "ums"
ums0: <vendor 0x06cb product 0x2970, class...
Never mind, I found a workaround here:
https://www.mail-archive.com/freebsd-ports@freebsd.org/msg66728.html
The essential part to work around my problem was the following:
cd /usr/ports/lang/gcc48
sudo env LC_COLLATE="C" make
When including env LC_COLLATE=C in the make command, lang/gcc builds...
I'm trying to compile and install KDE from ports, and as part of that, I need to compile GCC. But whenever I attempt to do so, I'm getting the following error messages:
[...]
c++ -c -g -DIN_GCC -fno-exceptions -fno-rtti -fasynchronous-unwind-tables -W -Wall -Wno-narrowing -Wwrite-strings...
If I remember correctly from the time I used a Mac (I had one until spring of 2015), I had to copy /boot/boot1.efi to the EFI partition of the Mac. If you want to use EFI to boot FreeBSD on your Mac, you have to make sure that the system has an EFI partition.
When you boot the install media and...
I tried the automount script on my NTFS partitions. It turned out I had to make a couple of changes for the script to work:
I had to change the line
if echo "${TYPE} | grep -q 'FAT'"
to
if echo "${TYPE} | grep -q 'FAT (32 bit)'"
This was because my NTFS partitions seemed to be identified as FAT...
