FreeBSD ZFS NAS with XBMC. Possible?

It depends on what hardware you got. For example it did not work on the ION 1 platform, but someone reported they got it to work on the ION 2 platform. See: http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=21476 http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=28441...

FreeBSD ZFS NAS with XBMC. Possible?

I would not recommend installing on a thumb drive, they're dead slow for a full OS and especially with X.Org running on top of it. Get an SSD, they're so cheap now anyways. Also, buy a 10 meter or so HDMI cable and place the server where the sound it makes wont disturb you (with five HDDs it...

eMachine er1401 HDMI audio not working

Well, the problem is not with the cards/devices as it works fine in Linux. Also the issue might not be with the kernel, but with how the sound system works(but I'm just guessing here).

    Nvidia (specifically ION) HDMI Sound

I don't see how a firmware update would be relevant, as it works fine under Linux or Windows. I would think it is something with either the nvidia drivers, or more likely freebsds FreeBSD's sound system and the snd_hda driver specifically. Would be interesting if we could find someone who knows...

    Nvidia (specifically ION) HDMI Sound

I have also tried this on my ION platform, a Zotac 330 D mobo, with FreeBSD 8.2 amd64 and the nVidia 285 driver. The ION platform is quite popular for HTPC boxes, and as I have a great FreeBSD install with ZFS, timemachine etc I was thinking I could combine the HTPC and my FreeBSD server into...
