Hi, I had the same problem, but I make it work now.
here is my /etc/profile file:
export XMODIFIERS="@im=SCIM"
export LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
export LC_CTYPE="zh_CN.UTF-8"
and /etc/csh.cshrc
setenv XMODIFIERS @im=SCIM
setenv LANG en_US.UTF-8
setenv LC_CTYPE zh_CN.UTF-8
