And still the news on http://www.freebsd.org tells only about new commiters and and the last RC.
It really worries me that nobody thinks it is neccessary to explain what is goning on. Technical problems happen, I know that and I accept that. But the FreeBSD team should be so polite and...
Ok. But my bugreports are now 48 hours old and the links still do not work... but I will wait a day or so before creating new ones.
At the moment it seems bug 173555 is last visible bug. My bugs come a view numbers later.
Damn. I feared that. Unfortunately I have not copied the reports somewhere else. So now I have to write them again.
I am a bit angry because I saw no news that tells about problems with the bugtracker. It would have been nice to be informed that this and that has gone wrong, how long it will...
Two days ago I reported two bugs with the FreeBSD bugtracker. I got two confirmation mails, each with a link to the bugreport that is supposed to be created.
I tried that links instantly and they just told me "No PRs Matched Query". So I assumed the bugs are moderated because of spam and have...
You are a *beep*ing HERO :) You (and a few minor other tricks) helped me to finally install tuxguitar! And the best: It works! What a happy end for this weekend.
Here are the steps that finally allowed me to install tuxguitar:
add openjdk to the java vendors in...
Good idea. I removed those two packages and openjdk7 is the only one left. But the makefile still chooses the diablo thingy.
After I spent so much time trying to understand what is going on and how to do it the right way I came to the impression that this java stuff is not well supported...
Exactly. Exiting X gives a black screen. Switching to a vt while it runs does mess up some colors instead of showing a terminal (but you can switch back to the vt with X and continue working in graphics mode). In both cases the input works. You just dont see anything :)
After reading this thread and this blog post i tried with the following lines in /etc/make.conf:
JAVA_VENDOR=openjdk
JAVA_VERSION=1.7
BOOTSTRAPJDKDIR=/usr/local/openjdk7
JAVA_PREFERRED_PORTS=JAVA_PORT_NATIVE_OPENJDK_JDK_1_7
Still the same problem. I wonder what is goning wrong here.
I have used it for around two days.
The good things:
it works: no crash, no screen artifacts
no problems with my dual monitor setup, xrandr works
Performance is good. I did no benchmarking but I tried nexuiz and xonotic and they felt as smooth as on linux.
The bad things:
At the moment it...
I try to install the port audio/tuxguitar. This port depends on java.
myhost# portmaster /usr/ports/audio/tuxguitar
...
===>>> Port directory: /usr/ports/textproc/dom4j
===>>> Launching 'make checksum' for textproc/dom4j in background
===> No options to configure
===>>> Gathering...
Damn! I saw that information before but my rusty brain refused to recall it the moment it was relevant :\
Thank you. After rebuilding xorg and its drivers it works.
It is very bad that currently there is no way to get back from X to the virtual terminals. Also I do not understand why X didn't...
I just tested with world and kernel from RELENG_9: Still the same problem.
Do I have to rebuild xorg or some parts of it to make them recognize the new features?
So something has to be wrong with my setup? But I just did a fresh install...
I tried again after installing the fbdev driver. It resulted in two new error lines:
(EE) LoadModule: Module fbdevhw does not have a fbdevhwModuleData data object.
(II) UnloadModule: "fbdevhw"
(II) Unloading...
I just installed FreeBSD 9.0 on a machine with Ivy Bridge (i7-3770K). After installing xorg I get the following error from startx:
Fatal server error:
AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0
See the full log on pastebin.
Searching the net I found out that the Ivy Brigde GPU is not yet...
Hi,
I am about to follow this guide to install FreeBSD with ZFS root inside a MBR slice. But after reading the instructions I started to wonder on how step 10 works:
dd if=/mnt2/boot/zfsboot of=/dev/ad0s3 count=1
Writes the first the first 512 Bytes of zfsboot to the start of the slice. Ok...
I started to debug the problem and figured out that x11-toolkits/qt4-gui is the port that provides the image loading functions. After rebuilding it with debug support it worked. Then I rebuilt it without debug options (because the debug version was incompatible with the ports that depended on...
I compiled KDE4 4.7.3 from an up to date ports tree. Now the desktop, kuickshow and okular are unable to load jpg images. The size-information displays "0x0" in the wallpaper gallery of the desktop (but the thumbnails look ok). Svg, png etc. are no problem. Also i can open all the jpg files with...
I had the same problems building kde4. My "workaround" was to stop the build with CTRL-C and restart portmaster. The next time it finished some more packages. It did hang on random points (yes, always automoc for me too). So with some patience and manual interaction it was possible for me to get...
