Looking for a new harddisk setup for my home server.....

In the meantime I went for three 4TB Seagate IronWolf NAS disks. # zpool status zroot pool: zroot state: ONLINE scan: none requested config: NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM zroot ONLINE 0 0 0 raidz1-0 ONLINE 0 0 0...

Looking for a new harddisk setup for my home server.....

Hi, thanks for your opinion. The system can hold up to six 3½" disks physically. I have to think about your SSD point. I have a 64GB disk lying around but I like the fact that I can just continue to work with the system when a drive breaks which wouldn't be the case with the SSD setup. If it...

Problems with "No buffer space available"

OK, BIOS update is done. IPMI Update can not be made as the BMC does not respond. IPMI is also shown as "Not working" in the BIOS. Something seems to be broken with the expensive board. I thought buying supermicro would help me surviving with it for ages :( On igb0 is my isolated TV which off...

Problems with "No buffer space available"

C2xxx chips dying.... jesus.... the board was kinda expensive..... warranty is over now :( The BMC has a dedicated LAN port where nothing is plugged in - I never used it. Do the things you've said still aply?

Problems with "No buffer space available"

The system just sits there in the basement for over a year barely touched (just FreeBSD + ports updates). This system is connected to my VDSL router and routs my network. I'm seeing this behaviour for arround 1 month now. I'll go and update FreeBSD now to the latest 10-STABLE. If the problem...

Problems with "No buffer space available"

Nope - I didn't do any board related software updates (BIOS, Firmware and so on) for at least 1.5 years

Problems with "No buffer space available"

http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Atom/X10/A1SAM-2750F.cfm I recently had problems with ICMP (not able to read out data, BIOS shows no ICMP version ("undefined")) but they went away....

Problems with "No buffer space available"

Firewall is fine and DHCP in general is working. Firewall would also not explain the 3 days period without any messages. For me it looks like something is accumulating the 3 days until it is "full" and then starts bailing out this error messages

remote upgrade from 9.3-STABLE to 10.x

This means I have to downgrade to 9.3-RELEASE first? Is there a possibility to do an update via "make world"? I know that this existed in the past, but I always made a fresh installation for major upgrades to also use the possibility to do bigger changes like filesystem layout, ufs -> zfs and so...

remote upgrade from 9.3-STABLE to 10.x

Hi, I consider upgrading my 9.3 system to 10.x using what is described here. The thing is - I never did binary updates before so I'm unfamiliar with this process. I'm used to "make world" since 3.3. I don't consider this a big problem, but I only have remote access to the system and I wonder...

    highres snapshots from webcam

Looks like xga is also a valid option for pwcview which captures 960x720 images (found by looking at source). But the image feels like upscaled instead of what Windows claims to capture when capturing 720p

    highres snapshots from webcam

Hi, I got a Logitech C310 HD webcam and wonder how I can take "good" snapshots with it. I tried multimedia/pwcview which seems to deliver not more than 640x480 but the picture was good for its resolution. Then I tried multimedia/mplayer: mplayer tv:// -tv...

    NAT with IPv6?

Which is not an available option in my case..... I'll try to play around with pf's NATing on the weekend to see what it can do or can't

    NAT with IPv6?

So... "nat" in pf will not work with ipv6 like it does with ipv4? This is what I thought after reading the docs. NAT64 does not help as I want to access ipv6 hosts from my systems behind my firewall and not access ipv4 hosts "translated" to ipv6 addresses.... There must be a solution... routers...

    NAT with IPv6?

I wonder if someone tried net/tayga yet - I guess I set it up correctly, but I have no clue how to redirect all my traffic through it so far. root@reis tayga> ifconfig tun1 tun1: flags=8051<UP,POINTOPOINT,RUNNING,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 1500 options=80000<LINKSTATE> inet 172.16.0.1 -->...

    NAT with IPv6?

The router does not support bridge mode. This would have been the first way to go. I really need something like "old fashioned way NAT" for ipv6.....

    NAT with IPv6?

Hi, I have a FreeBSD System acting as a router behind a crippled Cable-Router/Modem-Combination. I can only acquire a single IPv6 address from this cable-router as it does not support prefix delegation. I tend to switch my home network to Dual Stack as I'm experiencing severe problems with the...
