    Solved [Freebsd 12.2/DRM] : kernel: device_attach: drmn0 attach returned 19

Thread necromancy, I know, but just adding that I had this problem and fixed, it, and want to document it. For me, it was just that I had updated my /usr/src tree, but hadn't updated my system using it. So a miss-matched source tree and system will also cause this - another thing to check. For...

    How to use ports-mgmt/synth

Ah, I think I see the issue. Many ports are showing up with 'failed dependency check', and others (mostly py-something ports) with 'Installed package ignored, xx/yyy package unmatched'. What these error messages mean, and how to fix them, seems to be information that doesn't exist anywhere -...

    How to use ports-mgmt/synth

It also depends on how many of those ports include the words, 'webkit'.

    How to use ports-mgmt/synth

I am running -current so I can test ports as I need to, and, of course, I follow HEAD. A quarterly ports tree would leave me criminally out of date most of the time.

    How to use ports-mgmt/synth

Interesting. Looking at the port, it isn't the default unless BATCH or PACKAGE_BUILDING is defined - so as I had built it normally, then the options was set without it. I'll follow your instructions and nuke that line, and long term hope that portmaster is fixed soon so we can go back to normal.

    How to use ports-mgmt/synth

No, DYNAMIC_ARCH is not on, as It is not the default, and I am building for this system only, not many others - I don't need code for other processors, just this one. Is it really now impossible to build ports optimized for your system?

    How to use ports-mgmt/synth

I have installed and tried to use synth, but I clearly have missed something. I basically installed and ran it, but something is broken. 1. I do portsnap fetch upgrade; synth upgrade-system, which rebuilds hundreds of ports. Two odd days later when that finally completes, I repeat it, and it...

VirtualBox crashes when USB device attached

Yes, it seems clear that it is a regression in VirtualBox. The problem happens when you upgrade, and a workaround is to downgrade to the old version. I did this by building by own, although it might be easier to install a package if you have, or have kept, one. mkdir virtualbox cd virtualbox/...

VirtualBox crashes when USB device attached

I haven't had any replies to my message to freebsd-emulators@. The next step is probably to file a bug report with Bugzilla Edit: could you provide us a uname? Mine is: $ uname -a FreeBSD boffin 9.3-STABLE FreeBSD 9.3-STABLE #1 r271733: Thu Sep 25 20:46:45 AEST 2014...

VirtualBox crashes when USB device attached

Have you found any solution to this issue? I have the same problem, and have worked around it by downgrading. I am sending a message to emulation@freebsd.org to see if there is a fix.

Mythtv-frontend does not build if /usr/X11R6 symlink exists

Re: Mythtv-frontend does not build if /usr/X11R6 symlink exi This system has been source-upgraded since before the switch from xfree68 to xorg. It is probably a good testbed for finding problems triggered by strange configurations - the entropy is fairly high!

Mythtv-frontend does not build if /usr/X11R6 symlink exists

I have had a problem with mythtv-frontend not building for a while now, and managed to work it out last night. The error was audio/spdifencoder.h:35: error: 'AVCODEC_MAX_AUDIO_FRAME_SIZE' was not declared in this scope (Could be a different file in that directory depending on what make -j does...

AT+CGDCONT=1,\"IP\",\"internet.beeline.ru\" Your modem does not like something about this. You can try just removing it, together with its ok messages. It would help if you learn about chat script syntax. Try this for a dial line: set dial "ABORT BUSY ABORT NO\\sCARRIER TIMEOUT 5 \"\" ATDT\\T...

    No sound in KDE applications

No sugestions, as I have the same problem. You can check that gstreamer is working with this command line: gst-launch audiotestsrc ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! osssink There is a lot more on http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/data/doc/gstreamer/head/faq/html/chapter-using.html .

stop sshd from asking for password

That is the line about the public/private key authentication attempt: It failed, because of permission errors. If your home directory is 777, then it will fail! You stated that you had set it, but did not have success. What was the error message when you had the home directory's permission...

    Weird syslogd messages

Simply as it has not been mentioned: The cause is two log messages being posted in different threads at the same time. so you get two log messages interleaved. I'd try to decode it, but it's two messages from ipfw, and it's just too mangled.

    Updating packages with portupgrade

All the error messages you have provided tell us "something went wrong". Near the end of the output will be the actual error message. Look back until you can find the first error. Provide us with that, and we might have a chance. It is probably a case of an incorrectly installed port or a...

Any way to mute all sound from just one user?

Hey, try it, the worst that might happen is that you will annoy your daughter, and what are parents for anyway? But, I'd think not. The permissions would only be checked on opening. Once the device is opened, permissions are irrelevant. All I can think of is creating a mini daemon that you run...

    Problems with ports.

In that case, it is sounding like dodgy hardware to me. If you are doing the same thing and getting different results, then think hardware. Edit: Unless, perhaps - Are you doing something strange with the filesystem that your ports tree is on - memory disks or similar? NFS? Or are you using...
