Wayland Begins Porting Process To FreeBSD?

I would be interested to know if any progress has been made on this. Looking at the below it looks like some things have been pulled together. https://wiki.freebsd.org/Graphics On KMS, I found a few posts that suggest this is not dependent on KMS which I believe is the case. It can fall back...

    OpenSSL update

Silly me, should have checked the actual dates on SSL and the corrected section in the advisory "10.0-RELEASE-p1". I guess this already has the update. root@ip-172-31-6-227:/etc # openssl version -a OpenSSL 1.0.1e-freebsd 11 Feb 2013 built on: date not available platform: FreeBSD-amd64 options...

    OpenSSL update

Are those instructions correct for FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE-p1? Specifically the below. As it looks like there is no updates available. root@ip-172-31-6-227:~ # freebsd-update fetch Looking up update.FreeBSD.org mirrors... 5 mirrors found. Fetching metadata signature for 10.0-RELEASE from...

    Local or UTC time

During the FreeBSD install. You get asked the question Would it not be better to show the user what the time is currently set to on the system/CMOS? This would allow the user to make an informed decision based on where they know the server to be and the current time. For example. If I know...

    TIME_WAIT Assassination in FreeBSD?

Hi Sylgeist, We have only had experience with 6.1 TL6 SP5 & 6.1 TL4 SP( not sure, I think it was 1). We have had only had three issues with AIX 6.1 1. AIX print subsystem (qdaemon) was crashing on busy systems & not getting respawed. This was around your TL (not sure on SP, probably 1). We...

    TIME_WAIT Assassination in FreeBSD?

Hi All, In my day to day work I have just run into a particular issue. Given it is at the foundations of the TCP stack I am obviously out of my depth here. I would like to know if anyone can tell me. 1. The best or most correct solution to my problem (this is not a FreeBSD related question)...

find files older than 10 min - script/cmd problem

-type d Refer to the man page for find. You should not be using the type option like that, unless you only want to match directories? Use -type f or ! -type d As always test your find command with -print on the end first to make sure it matches what you want. Then work on your exec/xargs...

    pkg_version and two ports

Solved Now that you have said that its quite obvious why the two locations exist. Thanks again. So I guess use /Latest unlesss I am after something specific. Such as my case were the symlink is broken(points to the old version which was removed from /All).

    pkg_version and two ports

Thanks Dutch that is a good tip. It isn't the full solution but it helped me work it out. Apart from your tip I found that. 1. I need to be more patient. I guess Freebsd-doc is a port after all. So like other ports if I want the latest I should get off my arse and build it myself from the port...

    pkg_version and two ports

Thanks guys. I have rebuilt the index as per your suggestion and that fixed the issue. I guess at some stage myself or someone else ran a csup update instead of portsnap. Any idea on the FreeBSD doc port? en-freebsd-doc-20090913 < needs updating (index has 20100410)

    pkg_version and two ports

Ah I thought it was 8.4.15_2 for some reason not 8.2.15_2. So your right it is an older version I can ignore with the pkg_version flags I posted earlier. Why is the index out of date though for pkg_version? I didn't find 'pkgdb' on my system or in ports or a man page. After looking on google its...

    pkg_version and two ports

Hi All, Please excuse if this is newbie question. But I am trying to build a FreeBSD system that will hopefully be used at my work and serve as the basis for a wider deployment of FreeBSD. As part of that I want to make sure it is maintained and as much as possible automated. I have setup jobs...

    GhostBSD 1.0 cd or dvd?

Most PEN/USB sticks have greater capacity then CDs nowdays. So I say DVD capacity is better. Maybe try to stay under ~4GB so that 4GB sticks can use the same image as the DVD.

    Which database to learn?

Another lesser known but still free DB is Firebird ---> http://www.firebirdsql.org/ I havn't use it much recently but in a previous job a few years back we migrated from any extremely old and buggy Interbase DB to Firebird(based on Interbase source code originally but since modified a great...

    Google Wave invites

Hi All, I got an invite to the Goolge Wave beta. I am going to use it with some people from work but I get 20 invites that I can send out which means I have quite a few to spare. The invites seem to take a long time to go out but if anyone is interested I would be happy to send them out just...

"FreeBSD 8 Getting New Routing Architecture"

Thanks for the news Dutch. I like bits of info like that. It is an important peice of work and one that probably does not get the priase it deserves. Its also good to see vendors who use BSD giving back to the core product. We actually use proxySG at my work and I think its rather good(not that...
