first approach:
installed www/linux-firefox from ports
run linux-firefox from console (to see errors) and check no plugins and extensions are installed
went to http://www.quakelive.com
logged in and accepted licence agreement
when presented to install...
Thanks for help, I succesfully solved modifiyng Makefile to download new driver version 290.10 following SirDice's instruction and installed misc/compat8x and everything worked fine.;

Hi SirDice if you mean the options i can select with make config i can assure i didn't checked/unchecked any of them, to be sure i make distclean clean config (leaving everything on default) configure and i get the error :(
the only stuff in my make.conf about perl is:
[root@mrburns /usr/ports/lang/perl5.10]# grep -i perl /etc/make.conf
# added by use.perl 2010-05-12 19:39:58
PERL_VERSION=5.10.1

i have some problem with freebsd-update
i get this strange error and i'm not able to understand the cause
[root@mrburns /usr/ports/lang/perl5.10]# freebsd-update fetch
Looking up update.FreeBSD.org mirrors... 3 mirrors found.

same problem here (FreeBSD 7.1, KDE 4.2)
just testing, i have yakuake installed and from there i launch
konsole --help
it succesfully worked with
konsole -e bash
konsole -e csh
and didn't worked with
konsole -e sh
any idea what's wrong with sh ?
