I realize this is an old thread, this comment is for future consumers of it.
I see this behavior cited frequently, but this is not true. Take this snippet from zpool iostat:

TCP(or any other protocol immediately following the layer 3 IP)
Layer 2 LB is done on the destination MAC
Layer 3 LB is done on the destination IP
Layer 4 LB is done on the combination of destination IP address and port.
Layer 5 LB is done on the combination of destination IP address, port...
There are two problems with this approach. One is that of the pages installed via this method, there may be inconsistencies with the actual installed binaries. Two, this method doesn't install the complete man page set and you will miss many entries from commonly used utilities.

Anonymous "experts" are FUD. Please share what your sources are so everyone can decide if they are indeed experts and if their current storage strategies need to be reevaluated. For me, I trust in the engineering process and review standards that allow these devices to be created and sold on a...
The technology powering SSD's have been around for nearly 30 years and been in widespread use for over 20. How long do you need to feel comfortable?

Is it possible? Yes, quite easily.
Should you do it? Well that's another question entirely. Perhaps something to answer first is how good is your tin foil hat?
What do you mean by file system drive? Does it boot off that drive(mirror)? If so, I already answered that question.
Any current data on those drives would be lost once you complete the process.
