Well from my own personal adventures with this issue. DON'T DO IT! With an Android anyway. And not in Australia. I think FreeBSD isn't guilty because it does the same thing on Linux distributions I use.
I have tried it on Android 6.0 and it is unreliable at best just doing basic web browsing...
As I am a poor man, I've decided to try tethering a wireless device to access the internet with my small LAN.
I came across this page in the handbook, which tells me how to tether a device by loading it into the kernel. Just wondering how I could get it to tether during startup so I can still...
I don't know what version of FreeBSD you are using but I had to add NAT support through the kernel.....
options IPFIREWALL
options IPDIVERT
as directed here.
Peace,
Jonathan.
Yeah I should have used my brain a bit better, when I try another account it appears to work fine. So my main client account's profile appears to be corrupt. Another symptom is the "show hidden files" menu item does not work. So how do I go about resetting or replacing the profile for my main...
Weird...... but GNOME3 seems to have a corrupt registry or something as I have lost my favorites and when I go to re-add them they wont add back into the list.
Has anybody else en-counted this error and if so how did they go about fixing it?
Thanking you in advance,
Jonathan.
I am running FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-p1 with a customized kernel (NAT compiled into it).
I have setup ssmtp to send me the daily, weekly etc reports and over the past few days I have been receiving a strange error in the security run output.
Checking setuid files and devices:

I briefly looked at the net for information about SSDs (Solid State Drives) and freeBSD and found only confusing articles on the subject. Obviously it is not the fault of the authors it's just that I am not well versed on hardware.
Anyway I decided to put my queries here as I have a project on...
Okay, so the instructions are bad. Which would have to be true as it doesn't work. But could someone please tell me explicitly what the php.ini send mail option should be?
If nessecary I'll remove ssmtp and re-install it. There's so much conflicting information out there. :(
Well I had a look at whereis ssmtp, you were quite correct chrbr I had the wrong path for ssmtp. It should have been /usr/local/sbin/ssmtp not /usr/sbin/ssmtp. It did perform in the sense of the mail function returning true. But still failed to send the email.
I do not believe the...
Hello folks,
I am trying desperately to get ssmtp to work but without much luck.
I followed a number of tutorials on the net. But still ssmtp refuses to forward emails with the php mail function. It does however do the daily and weekly FreeBSD reports.
Here's my system details....
uname -a...
I don't like to muck around with the kernel as a rule, I prefer loadable modules. This is the main reason I want to avoid pf.
And the weird thing is I had the thing going for quite sometime so there has to be a simple type-o or something in rc.conf or ipfw.rules. Which is a merge of the...
Hello,
I have followed the instructions in the handbook regarding NAT and IPFW but somewhere along the line I have made a mistake. Unfortunately I had it going but when I went to re-apply it upon a server rebuild NAT refuses to work.
I am using the following ruleset script for ipfw on FreeBSD...
Sorry to bother you guys but ever since I attempted to install Libreoffice my GNOME 3 installation fails to run. Giving me the grey screen of death.
I tried upgrading my NVIDIA driver, deinstalling and reinstalling gnome and also doing the same with xorg but alas I still get the grey screen of...
I didn't have to start with a clean install at all, I managed to get it running by removing the package then the mysql user and reinstalling the package. But thanks anyway for the guidance.
Thanks, so now I'm up to.....
mysql -u root
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)
Any ideas to get around this one?
Peace,
Jonathan.
The above procedure fails when I reach....
rm -rf /var/lib/mysql/*
rm: No match.
and upon further investigation....
cd /var/lib/mysql
/var/lib/mysql: No such file or directory.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Peace,
Jonathan.
System trips up at....
mysql -u root
with...
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
Anymore help would be much appreciated.
Peace,
Jono.
