    2024Q2?

I build my own packages anyway - which takes about 3/4 of a day because it's done on a HP Gen8 server....

    2024Q2?

It seems it's MIA. Usually, it takes about three days or so. Anybody know what's up?

    HPE Gen11 hardware support?

I've now got the spec-sheet: HBA is a MR216i-p - does anyone know what driver that is? I would maybe make an educated guess that it's an OEM'ed MegaRAID HBA? Networking is a BCM5719, which looks to be supported by bge(4)?

    HPE Gen11 hardware support?

I know about the smartpqi driver.... In fact, I bought an OG Microsemi HBA just to be able to open a ticket and help push the latest driver into the tree (which took a really long amount of time). The fact that the smartpqi driver is absent from this page...

    HPE Gen11 hardware support?

Hi, I have trouble coming up with any information about this. Does it work? Which hardware specifically? Any reports from the field? Best Regards Rainer

    Anycast Setups

Hi dns.company, thanks for your reply and your insight. We currently use unbound, as I said. I've never used knot-resolver (beyond knowing it exists). I will have to look at it to see if it can provide an equal configuration for our purposes. We are looking at commercial offerings, too, but...

    Anycast Setups

Hi, we are considering running DNS-resolvers in an Anycast setup, possibly on FreeBSD. The resolvers current do run FreeBSD + unbound, but only Unicast. Additionally, they run IPv6 + IPv4... However, there is very little documentation available on how to Anycast on FreeBSD. I have never run...

    FreeBSD Hosting/Shared/VPS etc.

Looks like manitu.de does not currently offer any new root-servers at all, according to the homepage. Rising energy costs.... It also looks like Hetzner's dedicated servers are still cheaper, if you need ECC RAM. At least, if you are content with a server from the bargain-bin ("Server-Börse").

    Multiple version of php.

Yes. I may have made a type and it didn't grab the right makefile. Sorry for the confusion.

    Multiple version of php.

Thanks, Nasrudin - I do run various pools with different versions at the same time. I modified the startup-scripts so that they write their PIDs and logs in different places. I also change the names of the sockets. So it does work quite well, actually. Compiling yourself with different PREFIX...

FreeBSD 12.4 - performance regression somewhere?

These were sometimes almost 500 PHP-FPM processes. Currently (back on 12.3) there are maybe 60. These normally run as the user of the individual fpm-pool. Only the master-process runs as root. I will have to see if this repeats with 13.1. Thank god for boot-environments...

FreeBSD 12.4 - performance regression somewhere?

Thanks. I have rarely upgraded a root zpool for fear of not being able to boot anymore...

FreeBSD 12.4 - performance regression somewhere?

    Hi, I have a HPE DL380Gen10. After the update to 12.4, it shows a lot of load. (server-prod </root>) 0 # top -b 20 last pid: 49342; load averages: 423.85, 399.58, 348.51 up 0+10:33:23 10:38:39 546 processes: 430 running, 115 sleeping, 1 zombie CPU: 89.0% user, 0.0% nice, 4.4% system...

    Multiple version of php.

Yes. But if you had fifty or more pools in different PHP versions and needed to be able to switch between them, it would be a nightmare. Plus, you would need to track the port-numbers somewhere, which I don't, as I use the socket. Also, these php-fpm instances are all chrooted (which is much...

    Multiple version of php.

Hi Nasrudin - it seems with 2022Q4, your patch has stopped working. It's not really respecting PHPBASE anymore.

ZFS created boot environment, but can't select it at boot!

Boot-Pool is a mirror. It's on a dedicated controller. No hardware raid. I think it was installed with FreeBSD 10 - but that was a while ago. The controllers only really started working after Microsemi was able to bring new code in - and the very latest fixes are only in 13.1, they haven't...

ZFS created boot environment, but can't select it at boot!

Yes, but I didn't update the pool. I actually almost never do that for zroot - simply because if something goes wrong, I don't know how to fix it.

ZFS created boot environment, but can't select it at boot!

It's UEFI. I don't know about the boot-loader, TBH. I just don't have the boot-menu at all. It was installed with FreeBSD 10, IIRC. I created PR: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=266183 With above method, I can get to the BEs.
