Working Synaptics Touchpad Xorg 7.5 Files

Mine was working fine, both the Pad and the Buttons. The only thing I can suggest is to recheck your xorg.conf and your rc.conf just in case you've missed anything.

Working Synaptics Touchpad Xorg 7.5 Files

I will post these as a rough guide to any new users who lost their touchpad after the 7.5 xorg upgrade. I went through a whole day of trial and error, mixing and matching various posts from the forums. Maybe these files will save you some time ;) This is on an Acer Aspire 3000 with a...

    X.Org 7-4 -> X.Org 7.5 upgrade -- issues and questions

I finally got my working sis driver 10.2_1 and then the upgrade to 7.5 via portsnap+portmaster killed my synaptics touchpad. I have just spent the day reading the forums and using trial and error. All fixed now. I'll be posting a "my working synaptics xorg7.5" thread for those who may need it as...

    Ports dependencies and port tools

Ok, I found a pretty easy to follow guide here: http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/freebsd-updating-software-ports-applications/ Portsnap, which I have already done, then ports/UPDATING and portmaster, just like you said.

    Ports dependencies and port tools

Thanks. After a reinstall, I was a but worried about having to go through it again. It's a bit time consuming. Before installing anyhting else and risking more dependency problems, what would you suggest as my best solution. I currently need libpng.so5, but I really want to try and get...

    Ports dependencies and port tools

Hi everybody After a fresh install and a portsnap fetch, extract and update, I came across the same as the person in this thread: http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=13904 Basically gtk20 issues with dependencies being incompatible. I managed to get it sorted (more or less) by...

    driver porting patching installation

Well up until last night, version 10.2 still had the bug. I emailed the FreeBSD/Xorg mailing list regarding the availability of a newer driver which Debian had in the sid repos, and they emailed me back within a couple of hours regarding an update. I was amazed !! The new 10.2-1 is now in the...

NEWS - Sis graphic driver bug fixed

I have just tested the latest update for xserver-xorg-video-sis 0.10.2-1 and the bad colour-depth bug that haunted Sis drivers is now gone. Up until now, Linux users had to use the Sisfb framebuffer, which wasn't available for FreeBSD, and Vesa didn't have large/wide screen capabilites...

    driver porting patching installation

I have just found out something rather amazing (for me). I just installed the Debian sid Sis 10.2-3 on my Crucnhbang install (Debian Squeeze), with no newer dependencies needed. I removed the video=sisfb argument from Grub and booted into a nice shiny, perfect colour-depth desktop. No more need...

    driver porting patching installation

Hi wblock, Thanks for the links. I am running FreeBSD 8 and was looking at the Sis driver in Current (9) ports. I used portsnap to update my ports thinking I would get that version: ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-9-current/x11-drivers/xf86-video-sis-0.10.1_3.tbz However...

    driver porting patching installation

Hi wblock, Thanks for such a detailed reply, I am looking through the Porter's Handbook now. I think that going for getting the sisfb framebuffer to be available for FreeBSD would be the way to go (if it's possible, i'm on new ground here). I'm not very familiar with the FreeBSD kernel or how...

    driver porting patching installation

Hi everybody, I really hope this is the right place to post, so here goes. I'm an experienced Linux user, but *BSD n00b, so og easy on me :) I'm trying to solve a Sis graphic card issue on BSD, (there is a fix for Linux). After spending a week or so hacking and Googling, I'm not making...

sis graphic card problem (Acer Aspire 3000)

I have tried everything. This is an old laptop that has always had Linux, many distros. The only option to stop the bad colour-depth (blacks have a blue tint, and other colours are grainy), is to use the sisfb. Just using "startx" as you say, just starts the xserver, which then uses xorg.conf...

sis graphic card problem (Acer Aspire 3000)

It won't work. As I have said, it's a common problem with the sis driver. The only choices are to use the sisfb (Linux), or to find a way to get vesa working with 1200x800. As far as I can see, 800x600 is the maximum with vesa on FreeBSD so it looks like i'm a bit stuck. I just thought i'd ask...

sis graphic card problem (Acer Aspire 3000)

Hello everybody, this is my first post after a week of Googling and reading up on FreeBSD. I've managed to do practically everything i need with my new FreeBSD 8 installation on my Acer Aspire 3000 laptop, which is dual-booting with Crunchbang Linux, but one thing has me stumped after...
