btw do u try modifing/adding de_DE.UTF-8 in: /etc/login.conf inside of tag default:\ :charset=de_DE.UTF-8:\ :lang=de_DE.UTF-8:\ before of: : then cap_mkdb /etc/login.conf and reboot. You must check in console locale and see ur locale setup.

finally i change my language in kde. must go to /usr/ports/misc select ur kde*language my example: /usr/ports/misc/kde4-l10n-es make install clean, then chose ur language in control panel.
