I spent quite a while on trying to figure out how to correct the issue. I installed many other terms and they all worked as expected, even x11/rxvt-unicode. I also tried different combination of compile options with x11/rxvt but to no avail. So I ended up moving to another terminal.
I will...
I knew there was a key that produced that, but forgot what it was :). Anyway, when I press CTRL-T I receive ^T while in cat. Today I am planning on compiling x11/rxvt from ports and see if it is a specific option. This is where I stand:
1. If x11/rxvt launched using x11-wm/fluxbox menus...
FreeBSD amd64 10.3 using latest ports via pkg.
If press (shift)a (to get A) while executing cat in x11/rxvt, I receive this text:
load: 0.45 cmd: cat 69657 [ttyin] 2.14r 0.00u 0.00s 0% 1928k
So far this happens while in su and cat.
But via x11/xterm, all seems to work as expected.
I also...
FreeBSD use to have the "real csh" but some were around 4.x it was changed to tcsh. I believe that was done because tcsh is a bit more robust and I think bugs were corrected/removed.
I looked at /etc/rc.d/sendmail and I saw it will regenerate the ssl keys. So I stopped sendmail, removed the files in /etc/mail/certs and restarted. Same issue :(
So I did what obsigna suggested and copied the file created to /etc/mail/certs/cacert.pem and issue is now fix.
But that makes me...
Yesterday I was on Freenode #fluxbox and it was said there is a 1.3.7 in the works. Without any major issues it's release is not too far in the future.
I take that as a a good sign, the drivers we use are different (though by the came company). I have an old card and yours is newer. So I think we can cross video drivers off the list :)
I was thinking x11-wm/fluxbox 1.3.6 may have made a rather large change to calling X.
protocelt, thanks for trying.
Only one other person is having the same issue as I am and I just asked him what video card he has.
By now I would have expected a couple of more people having the same issue. But it works for jrm so right now it seems specific me and willbprog127. He just...
willbprog127 -- I was also thinking of that, curious what you will hear.
By now I would have expected a few more people to "show up" with the same issue we are having. Do you have this video card ?
nVidia Corporation C61 [GeForce 6150SE nForce 430] (rev a2)
For that to work under X I needed...
protocelt -- no luck with portupgrade, x11-wm/fluxbox 1.3.6 still hangs.
Still looking around and I see nothing that sticks out yet.
thanks
John
edit: fixed spelling of "luck"

shows info from pkg check -ad and pkg check -aB. Only cups issues and I do not use cups anyway

shows data from pkg_libchk, from the man page it states it uses pkg_info, which is the old package...

I requested the merge since your issue is exactly like my issue. I reverted back to 1.3.5, the old package should be in /var/cache/pkg/fluxbox-1.3.5_2.txz. To revert I copied it to /root and did a
pkg add
after removing 1.3.6. Over the past few days I have been doing that a lot...
Hi protocelt
Yes I follow /usr/ports/UPDATING, I did a full install of 10.1 about 2 or 3 weeks ago replacing 9.2, I never update between releases. The only ports update I had to do since the install was for graphics/png and that went fine. Sometime soon I will need to do something about...
Hi protocelt
That is one thing I did not try :) But when I renamed ~/.fluxbox the same issue occurred.
I noticed someone else just posted the same issue,
https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/after-1-3-6-update-fluxbox-crashes-when-apps-are-launched.49996/#post-279615
and he has additional...
