    FreeBSD Metalheads

I came to know this band because they remixed an EP by Morbid Angel. There are lot of cool underground bands in the neo-folk/martial/industrial style, but some of the later ones took themselves too seriously and Laibach retained the plausible deniability to continue playing with the...

    Important persons in your country.

The heart is big enough to accomodate more than one country, and mine accomodates the whole Iberian peninsula and Iberian America. So-called ¨Latin America" is an investion by some Frenchman to make us believe the French colonies had the same culture when it's not the case. Anyway here it goes...

California, Brazil, UK issue...my 2 cents

Let them fry on their own fat. Just refuse to have anything to do with it. This comes not just from politicians but also evil capitalist corporations, so all the more reasons for left & right libertarians to unite in a common cause.

A Developer's Guide to Generative AI in FreeBSD

You don't actually need to read everything, but I plan to when it's official. It seems you have an opinion on the matter but did you read it all?

Didn't manage to read it all but seems sensible.

    FreeBSD Metalheads

Found in the Internet: "Metalheads are nice people cosplaying as mean, while hippies are mean people cosplaying as nice."

    FreeBSD Metalheads

Lemmy never liked this label and he insisted they only played rock & roll. And industrial-metal Rob Zombie is more metal than Korn and nü-metal in general.

Baron Rojo is great. I got the Obstinato album on tape. Knew about them by a cover of Resistiré by the Venezuelan band Arkangel.

California, Brazil, UK issue...my 2 cents

I have no interest in pushing my views on anyone but you asked me a question, so here it goes: To me, the nanny state is obsessed over our personal lives wasting resources on victimless crimes. As I age, I lean more and more to anarchist views and see the government as a parasitic entity that...

California, Brazil, UK issue...my 2 cents

The Internet is sure full of smut, but the Alpha Generation is more celibate and uses less alcohol & drugs. Sure, there is the risk of gaming & social-media addiction, but this is way overblown. I don't trust in a Nanny state doing the parenting. This is all about preventing kids from getting...

California, Brazil, UK issue...my 2 cents

But lawyers cost money. Why not let these stupid governments fix the mess that they themselves created?

Practical suggestions for resolving the Brazilian problem

They want to end anonymity in the Internet to prevent kids from having the "wrong" politics. I know Lula well. Hugo Chávez gave Odebrecht lots of contracts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Car_Wash My practical suggestion: Reject them & vote these parties out of office.

Will FreeBSD be available in California in 2027?

I read Brazil is demanding something similar. Just ignore their nutty governments and let's go back to code as usual.

PSA: lpd/lpr will be removed from FreeBSD

These binaries have the setuid bit on. The sooner we remove them, the better.

Why are FreeBSD users seen as black sheep? (+ thanks)

    It's for the Alpine-based PostmarketOS.

Why are FreeBSD users seen as black sheep? (+ thanks)

I'm such a black sheep that I'm pro-BSD in a GNU crowd and pro-GNU in a BSD crowd. Or maybe I have an amphibian nature, or maybe I'm Schrödinger's! Or maybe this is all Therian non-sense... Anyway, I'm getting old to give a fuck about the labels. :)

    FreeBSD OCI Containers

Jails are better primitives for containers than Linux namespaces. If anything, FreeBSD can boast of having containers first. Jails are containers.

Signing pkg repos with a YubiKey — security feedback welcome

There's no hierarchy with PGP which relies more on the decentralized Web of Trust model. OpenSSH public keys can be used for authentication and signing. These can be trusted on first use (TOFU) or they can be signed by a CA with PKI giving you a real hierarchy.

Signing pkg repos with a YubiKey — security feedback welcome

It'd be nice to mention that people need Yubikey 5 for this because the cheaper Yubikey Security Key wouldn't work. I have a pair of those but it's overkill for all my use-cases except Keepass XC, where OATH HOTP is needed. When they get it to work with just FIDO2 I may buy the cheaper ones...
