Spending $17 million to replace git

I've heard Americans say that. Another phrase that drives me nuts is, "Me and my friend are going to the store". I learned in my first years of schooling that you put the others first in a sentence. "My friend and..." You can then check the phrasing by leaving the 'friend' part out like, "Me...

    FreeBSD on Dell Inspiron 1545

fwiw, I have FreeBSD on a Dell 1545 that I've used for years but only now as a backup drive. I'm sure I installed it using a usb and not a DVD. I know the DVD worked at one time but I never tried to use it with FreeBSD. You might try using a usb if you can't get the DVD to work.

There are too many social and other media sites

Guys. I was baking sourdough and other breads every week for 10 years. I also owned restaurants that featured bread. It's not that I don't know how. I just forgot a few things and need to get back into the rhythm after not baking for five years.

Maturin that wasn't sourdough but yes I'm sure it needed more water. I did add some but was afraid to add too much. I used to be able to figure these things out by touch and feel but I was just too cautious.

There are too many social and other media sites

Maturin I found my list of favorite breads I used to make. I'm rebuilding my sourdough culture. I did make one bread which had great flavor but was too dense. Another one of those areas where I've forgotten all the little tricks.

There are too many social and other media sites

Been doing a lot of driving lately. I used to listen to the radio but no more. Too many commercials on one. Too much whining and complaining on two. Too much "we're the downtrodden" on the third. Made me tense. Then I remembered that I don't care. I'm fine. I switched it off, just like all the...

There are too many social and other media sites

Over the weekend, I was linked to three media sites I had never heard of before. I can't keep track of them all (as if I cared about social media at all). I started using Twitter years ago cause there were tech people I was interested in but I'm not interested in their day-to-day. Facebook I was...

Will FreeBSD be available in California in 2027?

Did you catch this in the first Batman movie that had Robin in it? When it first came out, I think I was the only one in the theater who laughed out loud.

Spending $17 million to replace git

A lot of people prefer mercurial, too.

Will FreeBSD be available in California in 2027?

MG Yeah, you're missing it. scottro probably gets it, though.

Spending $17 million to replace git

I have always considered git to be a pain in the rear. We used it cause others used it and we had to interface to them. I think "them" used it for the same reason--other people used it, not because they liked it. If git was that good, why are people going to spend $17 million to replace git

MG Did you see the movie? It's a quote.

Folks: Let's get Claude Code native installer working for FreeBSD

The Anthropic guy said this: So in my mind that's saying: "We're not going to support FreeBSD."

Folks: Let's get Claude Code native installer working for FreeBSD

So they want to support FreeBSD but it has to go through bun. As someone there said, "Now we have two problems." They act all nice to us but then we have to do the work. They won't. So they're thumbing their nose at us.

    chsh

sh is the default shell on FreeBSD so I don't understand what you mean. Except those *nix-like environments where it's not installed. On BSD, at least, you know sh will be there. You cannot know bash will be there. The "/bin shell" is not legacy.

AI finds thousands of zero-day exploits... including in FreeBSD.

Claude turned me into a newt.

    chsh

Again, many does not equal most and that would hold it up as standard usage. Many people don't use bash, too. I'd even bet most BSD people use something else--especially sh. No one at my company ever used bash and neither did I. When I correct chatgpt it even apologizes for the error.

    chsh

MG No. Chatgpt just thinks FreeBSD uses bash by default
