    Is FreeBSD good?

The great thing about this forum is how we can take a post and run it up to 100 interesting responses for a first-time OP we will never hear from again.

Solved Is Rust now killing C++ and eventually C with it ?

Again, undefined behavior is a side effect of C allowing you to do anything you want. C won't restrict you in any way. Same with assembly language but you don't hear people talking about it there. It's why some people use other languages, they can't handle the truth! (Jack Nicholson said this...

Solved Is Rust now killing C++ and eventually C with it ?

The ability to shoot yourself in the foot when using C is a feature and not a fault. C doesn't hold you back from doing what you want to do. C doesn't prevent you from doing what you want to do. A language that holds you back is a fault, not a feature.

    FreeBSD OCI Containers

All this talk of containers makes me think it's a "me too" cause Linux has it and not because we don't have our own thing and it's just a Linux-ism.

    Is FreeBSD good?

You should always get the best tools you can afford. Harbor Freight is OK if you only need something a few times but if you are going to live with a tool for a lifetime then FreeBSD is an excellent choice.

How to run a Hytale dedicated server on FreeBSD

What game? Nothing was said about a game till post #5 and I still don't know what game this was talking about but I do know you were talking about a server so I assumed something like nginix or apache as a web server. So now that you mention some game, I still had to do a search to find out...

    Is FreeBSD good?

That's why I don't own a custom built house. Too much tinkering involved. I'd rather buy one somebody else put together and just put up with what they give me. Don't want to deal with all that hacking.

How to run a Hytale dedicated server on FreeBSD

Now all one has to do is figure out why they should use it.

Solved Identity and instant messaging: AIM, ICQ, Yahoo!, Skype, Google Talk

Nobody needs all those platforms. It's questionable why any are needed at all. EDIT: Looking through them, I see only three I have signed up for in the past. IRC of course. Twitter/X but I don't recall doing it or why and rarely visit. Facebook just maybe five years ago because I met some...

Tell me stories about your dog or cat.

I would. I might. But forgive me for crying. I miss my little Shih Tzu boy and girl. Jake was my little buddy but Sadie was the perfect dog. When more than one vet is amazed at how good Sadie is; when vet technicians come out from the back cause "Sadie's here!"; you know you have something...

Why are FreeBSD users seen as black sheep? (+ thanks)

Yeah, if anything, I get a feeling of admiration and respect from other technical people but on almost any social media platform you'll find people who will attack you no matter what you use.

Anyone using Musk's "Starlink" for inet?

RedGreen925 If the Russians are his buddies, why did he help Ukraine by giving them access to Starlink? That's my question and point to what you said earlier. In no way am I defending what Russia has done. This is also political commentary and I will not continue this.

Anyone using Musk's "Starlink" for inet?

Well, there are two sides there. You call them his "Russian buddies" but forgetting that he was helping the Russian enemies at the time.

Other "Lightweight Desktop" vs "feature-rich and resource intensive"

No because they didn't exist. Even at Silicon Graphics, where I worked then on graphical software in C on a Unix system, it was text all the way through until the output. Sure we had a window to display the final result but that was only the final result of the work in text. But many of the...
