    The state of FreeBSD desktop

[X] I could use it, but the systems I use instead are not worse.

Preferred DE of the FreeBSD users

Not quite. I would like to see more competition on the desktop. OpenBSD is a pretty good desktop experience and it would be relatively easy to let FreeBSD have a similar configuration without giving up its server strength. Then again, there are GhostBSD and MidnightBSD for that.

What's wrong with pkg over ftp ?

Subversion is not a protocol and I still prefer SVN over Git (license, user experience, quality of the community). That's not the point of this thread.

What's wrong with pkg over ftp ?

The relatively small protocol overhead. Admittedly, transferring multiple files at the same time leads to quite some TCP communication though.

That does not explain the "what's wrong with it?" part.

Solved TIDAL – DRM required (for audio but not necessarily for video, apparently)

    Claws-Mail versus Eudora

On Windows, I use Pandora. Tell me more... That screenshot shows a dated version of Apple Mail. Really, really dated.

    Claws-Mail versus Eudora

Actually, it was the other way around: Qualcomm wanted to make an "all-new" Eudora "8", based on Thunderbird. Nobody wanted that, so Qualcomm ended the Eudora project instead of just making "Eudora 9" without all that Thunderbird cruft. Yup, sounds like Mozilla. The HERMES team provides...

    Claws-Mail versus Eudora

Eudora is hard to replace. (I like that there are updated versions for Windows, at least.) Claws Mail is decent if you can live with the weird user interface.

    Just gotta LOVE git!

Hmm. Wouldn't gawk's GPL require aho to be GPL'ed as well?

    Just gotta LOVE git!

Wrong. Mercurial and BitKeeper have even more features than Git; and those are only the first two that come to my mind. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positive_feedback

    Just gotta LOVE git!

People who disagree with your claim that Git was better than every other VCS in even one single aspect have automatically lost your respect? I see. I think I'll end this discussion here.

    No.

Are you a typical Git user? I ask for the list of reasons why Git is ridiculous.
