So nvidia & wayland big problems, this worked,

Alain De Vos, thanks for giving your solution. I remember at one point, I couldn't get Wayland working with Nvidia--in my case, eventually the drivers and drm-kmods were updated and that fixed it for me. I have an Nvidia GeForce GT1030). I remember when I first posted that I couldn't get it...

    URGENT - NVIDIA - REL15.0: 580.119.02_1 of nvidia driver/drm61/kmod - ARE KNOWN BROKEN

T-Aoki one quick aside--I can get Japanese input on Wayland with labwc, a Wayland version of openbox, and fcitx5 (though it's quite iffy with dwl, a dwm equivalent.) See my https://srobb.net/jpninpt.html#wayland. As for Nvidia, I use latest, as far as packages, and often, when there's an...

    I'm a follower of fashion,

As has been said, you can set a user to be ignored. As for me, like many here, I enjoy most of Alain De Vos's posts and, speaking just for myself, would rather see 3 on topics that I don't care about, than miss the one I find fun.

    What's your favourite keyboard?

fmc000, to some people, having the keyboard be EXACTLY right is worth it. Though many of us find less expensive ones that we like.

    Kernel Module 15.0 Install

In my case, whenever I have Nvidia trouble, I've always been able to fix it (in the last year or so anyway, don't remember before, by doing a port install of nvidia-drm-kmod, whenever I've had an issue after an nvidia update of any sort, e.g., driver, kmod, etc. I generally upgrade with pkg...

Solved How realistic are my goals?

RHCSA is probably quite doable. There are several good books avaialable. There's the Van Vugt and Ghori books. If you have FreeBSD, you can set up RH bhyve VMs quite easily, or use Rocky or Alma. Presently, I think the most current ones are for RHEL9. There's also some helpful reddit threads...

Solved How realistic are my goals?

If you have any friends or acquaintances in IT, it may be as, or more useful than a degree. Most posted jobs ask for a degree, but if they like you, it can be overlooked, especially when you're older, and have experience. On the other hand, I haven't job hunted in years, and it is worse now...

Solved Switch does not survive reboot and other network changes

In my case, I often wasn't able to destroy public. Or, if I did I wasn't able to add the interface (re0 in my case). I would sometimes simply delete /vm/.config/system.conf, then recreate the switch. And if it didn't let me add re0 to it I would just manually add the line ports_public="re0"...

Solved Switch does not survive reboot and other network changes

I've also been seeing trouble with bhyve lately. For me, the last time I rebooted, I lost the switch. My bhyves are on a machine that I don't reboot very often, but if I remember last time I had to reboot, I wound up doing pkg remove vm-bhyve then pkg install vm-bhyve then re-creating the...

    Other BSD Window Managers; List

Fortunately, dwl is still working fine. I have found, in the past that port maintain of dwl is faster respond than something raised at the codeberg site. I don't know if that's still the case but the FreeBSD port maintainer was always quick to respond. And kindly, even to a question, that in...

    Solved bhyve core issue

I *think* but am not sure that with Windows, for whatever reason, 2 is the maximum amount of cores. I don't remember where I read this, and a quick web search didn't find it, so I could be wrong.

    Other BSD Window Managers; List

After a VERY superficial web search, I get the impression that dwl and mangowc are like dwm and spectrwm.

25 Gbps home internet service launching in Japan

The last time I looked, which admittedly was years ago, back when Spectrum was Time Warner Cable. they had a nebulous term of service, that if you ran a web or mail server and it took too much traffic, they could block it. Verizon, the other big ISP in NYC, last time I looked blocked ports 25...

BEs in a strange state after upgrade to 15.0

I have something similar. I also upgrade this machine with freebsd-update and the active partition is named 14.3-RELEASE but it's running 15.0-RELEASE-p1. I never thought too much about it, just guessing that some names were automatically given by freebsd-update, for example, maybe when I ran...

    Solved OpenBox tint2 hiding/un-hiding problems

Still nice of you to come back and let us know it was solved. By the way, if you have time, maybe you could post that working config, I'm sure someone will want to make use of it down the line. Not me, as I didn't get on this thread, as I like tint to stay visible, but I'm sure most people want...

Solved Switch does not survive reboot and other network changes

I have my own page on it at https://srobb.net/vm-bhyve.html. Much of it is also on vermaden's pages (I took some stuff from him, as usual). But it's fairly straightforward, or has been for me, anyway, installing a gui of Linux (or Windows or FreeBSD) into a uefi boot.

It's all about jokes, funny pics...

I just saw this one today on cracked.com. I don't think I've heard or read it before. A colon can change the entire meaning of a sentence. Example I ate Jane's sandwich. I ate Jane's colon.

    jokes

I tend to like your off-topic threads, but there's already a joke thread, that started in 2008 and is currently up to 55 pages. https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/its-all-about-jokes-funny-pics.286/page-55
