bhyve bhyve create raw vm failed in freebsd15 .

I have a page on vm-bhyve, which also has a link to vermaden's page on it (which is more complete). https://srobb.net/vm-bhyve.html But in your case, I think all you need is vm create -t centos7 myvm with myvm being the name of the vm. For most things I like to also have -m 4096 (-m is for...

    Solved Tint2 in the future

Phishfry what I did, though I don't say it's a good idea, is run pkg create on 15-RELEASE. Then I put that package on 16-CURRENT and ran pkg add and it installed. I didn't try to build it from a port, just used the binary.

    Solved Tint2 in the future

fernandel I just gave x11/lxpanel a try on my CURRENT vm and it would definitely work for me if tint2 was unavailable. Jose it's not too big and seems to have a lot of same functionality. I just played with it, didn't try to figure out how to have it on top--its default is to be on the bottom...

    Solved Tint2 in the future

I'll keep that one in mind if it ever gets to not being able to use tint2.

    Downloading my content

I'm guessing you know this, but just in case, once you log in, you see your username in the upper right, and if you click it there is a menu item for "your content". That will show all your posts from newest to oldest.

    Solved Tint2 in the future

Yes, I have seen that it's been frozen. I'm surprised that there seem to be few replacements. (I haven't found one that worked well for me). Of course, there is fluxbox with its built-in bar, but I've preferred openbox for years. If I do come across a good panel I will let the forums know. As...

    Solved Tint2 in the future

I recently installed a VM of FreeBSD-16-CURRENT, and found there was no tint2. Due to other issues, I've not been able to update ports in CURRENT, so, as the concept works in Fedora Linux, where I've been using tint2 from F39 in later versions, including F43, thought I'd try the same sort of...

Solved How realistic are my goals?

I very much agree with Espionage724. Many times, when I can't figure something out, I create a page on it, and explaining it the imagined reader helps me figure out what I need to do.

    Sound control

I'm pretty sure that I can make a video louder by using mixer. That is, meaning a youtube video. You could try, next time a video is too low, running the command mixer. It might show something like vol = 0.85:0.85 pbk as the first line. Then you can try doing mixer vol=1.0:1:0 That should...

    Recommend video editing software

To get video starting after the first 10 seconds to last 30 seconds ffmpeg -ss 10 -i original.mp4 -t 30 new.mp4 I've read, though not proven, that put the starting seconds at the beginning helps find the spot to start more quickly than ffmpeg -i original.mp4 -ss 10 But that of course, is for...

    pkgbase vs bectl?

gotnull, that's correct, it's marked as Tech Preview. It was still marked that last time I tried FBSD-16-CURRENT snapshot, so I don't know if it will change by the time 16 comes out. (Snapshot is from 2026-01-13, if anyone cares).

    pkgbase vs bectl?

Yes, the handbook, last I looked, seemed a bit behind. I have a page on it, covering a few things that I didn't find at the time, much of it based upon posts here (and some reddit ones) at https://srobb.net/fbsd14_15.html, including using bectl to give you a fallback.

Solved msmtp problem (unless it's just me)

Yup, heard back from the developer who said it should be fixed by https://cgit.freebsd.org/ports/commit/mail/msmtp?id=274554a136104549ade5332ae8255fe119be4551 and that it may tke a bit of time for the updated package to show up---working version should be 1.8.32_2 So, I'll mark this as solved...

Solved msmtp problem (unless it's just me)

The msmtp package was upgraded a few days ago. The previous default package had TLS/SSL compiled in, I think, I actually don't remember checking. The current port has GNUTLS as default for SSL/TLS support, however the latest package doesn't. My $HOME/.msmtprc configuration has TLS on. So, trying...

    Valuable News – 2026/01/26

I note (I guess it's a sign of the times) that more and more of the items are youtube videos. vermaden, that's not a complaint, I, like most here, appreciate the work you put into rounding up things that will interest many of us, and it's easy to tell if it's a video as the link will say youtube...

    The Random Thread

eternal_noob you did make me laugh, though I'm not sure I agree with you. Or, at least I'd say, depends upon the forum. I think these forums are pretty good at sticking to tech stuff, and everyone active here knows not to go too far off the rails.

    The Random Thread

In NYC, it's rough (for NYC, but not for Maine, fernandel and not sure where drhowarddrfine is, but I found with my brand new boots, bought after the last snowstorm--and the place I went to mentioned how their stock was severely depleted from people rushing to buy after the last one) and the...

    Wifi

I'm going to plug my own page. https://srobb.net/fbsdquickwireless.html, gives basic instructions for most forms of wireless. blackbird9's post might have given you most of the info though. Anyway, you have to create the passphrase, as bda65 says. They gave you the command needed. That should...

Librewolf browser can't print/save webpages as pdf

I don't have this problem, if that's any help. I guess check which packages are on the work laptop relating to pdfs (and maybe cups or whatever you use to print) and see if they're all on the home laptop. Also, the obvious, make sure that they're the same version of FreeBSD and of librewolf.
