    gmirror re-insert disk into array

I've a machine with two drives mirrored using gmirror. When I moved it recently one of the SATA cables must have been dislodged as the array is now marked as DEGRADED, and only one drive is found. # gmirror status Name Status Components mirror/gm0 DEGRADED ad4 Unfortunately, I...

    Apache authentication from WAN only

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Many thanks.

    ppp Static IP problem

Hmm, just found the iface add which can be called in ppp.linkup, it essentially does what my ifconfig line was doing, but is a bit tidier. I've adjusted the scripts that determine the default routing to deal with the fact there may be more than one IP address for the interface and use the last...

    ppp Static IP problem

Made the changes suggested, and I still get the "Unacceptable address" error. I've had another look through the man page for ppp, and simply cannot find any method for telling ppp to use the IP requested, even if ISP returns an IP outside the requested subnet. /etc/ppp/ppp.conf bt...

    Apache authentication from WAN only

Ok thanks, this may take a bit more planning than I'd first thought. Seeing as all external traffic is forwarded to this machine, I should be able to run the sites on a single IP, but on different ports. There may also be some heavy use of includes too!

    Apache authentication from WAN only

Is that the only way it can be done? If the virtual host declaration is in way complicated, it requires a great deal of duplication. If for example, there are only one or two locations that need to be authenticated when connecting from the WAN it would seem over the top to have two virtual hosts...

    Apache authentication from WAN only

I'm setting up a (basic) intranet site on our Apache webserver (v.2.2.14), what I'd like to have is certain pages accessible from the LAN, but requests from the WAN need to be authenticated. I've got directories that are restricted to the LAN by using the Allow directive, and I've got...

    ppp Static IP problem

I'll give that a go, though I'll have to wait for a quite period so it doesn't disrupt everyone.

    ppp Static IP problem

Um, that was a mistake anonymising the IP addresses :OOO, the one I've been using has been .41 for exactly the reason you suggested. I've edited the post accordingly. Typical, you proof-read & proof-read and still make mistakes!

    ppp Static IP problem

I'm running a machine on FreeBSD 7.2-RELEASE with a custom kernel (for VESA support) that acts as a broadband router / dhcp server / firewall. We've got two ADSL lines, both with static IP addresses. Our BT address is causing some issues. They've given us 5 IP addresses: a.b.c.40/29 gw a.b.c.46...

    Compile error for dsniff

And there I was thinking I needed the tcpdump port as it wasn't in the base system. Removed tcpdump & libpcap, installed dsniff and everything works fine. Thanks.

    Compile error for dsniff

OK, but seeing as libpcap is needed by tcpdump, won't this cause issues if I remove tcpdump & libpcap, install dsniff and then reinstall tcpdump (along with libpcap)?

    Compile error for dsniff

I'm trying to install the dsniff port on FreeBSD 7.2-RELEASE and get the following compile error: # make ===> Found saved configuration for dsniff-2.3_4 ===> Extracting for dsniff-2.3_4 => MD5 Checksum OK for dsniff-2.3.tar.gz. => SHA256 Checksum OK for dsniff-2.3.tar.gz. ===> Patching for...

FreeBsd 8.0 Hylafax 6.0 Send Fax Error

I was getting this too. It turns out that it's due to IPv6 on the Hylafax server. Hylafax appears to bind to the first device unless you specify the -l parameter for /usr/local/sbin/hfaxd. Possibly related to this bug http://bugs.hylafax.org/show_bug.cgi?id=916. I submitted a diff recently to...

    ppp Change route failed

@Ruler2112 Yup, I'd resigned myself to living with this too. Dawned upon me that this would be the place to ask. Will definitely update this thread if I ever do find a solution. John

    ppp Change route failed

@SirDice, Thanks for the reply. I've already disabled ipv6cp (I don't think I made that clear). My /etc/ppp/ppp.conf bt: # PPPoE set speed sync set mru 1492 set mtu 1492 set ctsrts off # Monitor line quality enable echo set...

    ppp Change route failed

I'm using FreeBSD 7.2-RELEASE with a custom kernel (VESA support, & reduced driver support) as a router/firewall/dhcp server for my two ADSL connections. Whenever one of the ppp interfaces has to reconnect, I get the following entry in /var/log/messages Mar 30 16:04:34 router ppp[17132]...

Howto: Getting a CAPI ISDN modem working with Hylafax

Hi stou That's strange, I'm positive that I walked myself through the howto to make sure it all worked. Lo and behold, I got the same errors as yourself. It turns out that the c4b diff file was using windows line endings (not sure how that happened). Also the leading whitespace appears to be...

    CVS pserver

Sure, but I'm having issues with getting the pserver to listen for incoming connections, so that I can check out files from my desktop machine. Ah, just seen that I managed to cut off the "pserver" flag in my /etc/inet.d entry :OO That appears to have done the job. Funny, the man pages didn't...

    CVS pserver

I've been trying to get cvs pserver to work on FreeBSD 7.2, with no luck. I installed the cvsd port, but wasn't able to connect. Using telnet failed too. I tried simplifying matters using inet.d, but again it didn't work. This time when I telneted to the cvspserver port, I got the following...
