I didn't realize the scan was taking so long for some people. It takes about 45 seconds or so on my main machine and I'd say about 3 minutes max on the other one so I never gave it a second thought. Anyway, I'm sure a speed increase of any kind would be appreciated.
One thing that might be nice...
I bring up the configure screen to check that things are in order after each minor update you push out before building so I just change it from there since I'm already at that screen. I won't likely do that after Synth is tagged feature complete/bug free. SYNTHPROFILE is mentioned in the...
And this^ is why we can't have nice things. ;)
I just run a synth configure quick to change the number of builders/jobs before building if I need to use the system at the same time.
Edit: oops, already mentioned by marino@
clang is the default compiler on FreeBSD, yes. It's the default compiler for ports as well unless the port specifies otherwise and out of the 25,000+ available ports, there isn't all that many that require gcc or another compiler.
I really don't know what is going on here, but if this is a...
Take a look at the ccache man page and website for more information on what it is and how it works, then create a new thread to ask any more specific questions you might have. :)
I have 900+ ports installed on my workstation. Last repository rebuild I did, with the ccache cache fully populated, Synth took around 3.5 hours to rebuild the entire repository. I don't know how long Poudriere took on the same machine but I know it was longer. I thought there was a mistake and...
The FreeType2 headers should be installed in /usr/local/include/freetype2
ls /usr/local/include/freetype2
freetype ft2build.h
Edit: This is assuming print/freetype2 is installed.
Seen that and was about to post a message about the parade of disgruntled synth users coming shortly to post it's broken. :)
After using Synth for the last couple of weeks now, I'm really liking it. Much easier to setup than Poudriere and seems subjectively faster as well.
Why? It makes sense and sounds like a good idea to me and I can't immediately think of a reason for push-back other than "I/we don't like change...". I'm not a developer so there of course may be a reason I don't know about.
That is only a warning. It doesn't mean ezjail doesn't work correctly or is broken in any way. I manage my jail(s) manually but from what I understand the warning is just saying that using the old method of rc.conf for jail configuration is deprecated and you should switch to using...
No problem. :) You can mark your thread as solved by clicking "Edit Thread" on the upper right while viewing the thread and choosing "Solved" from the drop down in the box that pops up.
Odd, did you by chance accidentally delete the user's home directory? You should be able to create/change a user's home directory with the pw command.
pw usermod cody -d /home/cody -m
If the output is the same as mine, the /home symlink and /usr/home directories do exist. Run pw user show <username> as the user in question replacing <username> with the user's name and post the output.
When doing a standard install of FreeBSD, /home is a symlink to /usr/home. ls -l / | grep home should show that to be the case:
ls -l / | grep home
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 8 Jun 11 2015 home -> usr/home
Yes, I missed the link for some reason. My apologies for that.
I don't know what the status or future outlook is for sysutils/ezjail in regards to FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE however it's used by plenty of users so it's doubtful to me it won't be updated to run well on 11.0-RELEASE.
talsamon, looking at your output above, ccache is indeed working as chrbr pointed out.
The other settings you had in your /usr/local/etc/synth/LiveSystem-make.conf file should not be there either. However, it was a different issue then the thread topic and I wanted you to focus on one problem...
Can you post the errors your getting? It's quite possible someone here may be able to help you fix them if your interested. Additionally, sysutls/iocage requires ZFS just so your aware.
