Are there any "trekkie fans"

Star Trek discovery, many critics about the written "Captain Michael Burnham" character. I found it nicely written.
[ & Klingons with a skirt , or predators with deadlocks , and no mouth things, is not my thing ]

I'm gone skip woke-trek , aka Starfleet Academy. It will hurt my feelings, and my emotions , of predictability & Cliché.
For that we have "beverly hills 90210". & Without a Gul Dukat of DS9 there is not much fun.
[When writers think they have to educate audience , something wrong with writer.]
[Writers are now out of ideas , then they say put in a homosexual & lesbian & bi]
Gone buy dvd box the Orville.

I will torture myself to a very inhumane level. The world health organization should forbid this but I'm gone watch starfleet academy episode 1 & 2.
Spoiler alert 1: In the replicator-bar, they don't replicate the coffee , but they replicate the mugs. So at the end of each day there is no coffee but 100's of mugs. :).
Spoiler alert 2: You get educated that the closest line between two points in not straight. [ Even Einstein new this ]

I was never a fan. Only saw original series and the three new films (anything in between was a one off viewing and I didn't care for it - far too "soap opera in space"). Those were tolerable, but I believe they're not considered "canon", by the true fans. JJ Abrams tore up the rule book, etc. However at the time I thought they were an improvement over everything between original series up to that point...

It's always been Star Wars for me. Then JJ Abrams got his hands on that as well and the result was three disastrous films that I wish could be unmade somehow. So the Trek fans had the last laugh there and now I can see their point of view.

So many things to not watch (I'm referring to "Starfleet Academy") and so much time to do other things.

I'm not a trekkie, but I can assert that any Stark Trek edition is better than any Doctor Who edition and on par with any Star Wars edition.

I think there are a lot of "trekkies" out there. "Trekkie fans"? ie fans of "trekkies"...probly not so much.

Oh, and for the record...I have zero use for the "reloaded" franchise...total crap! heavy special effects, weak plots, and the obligatory political correctness lessons.

They stole the "numner one" title. Only Picard and Locutus can use that.

My general problem with the trek franchises is that they over-play the time travel card. time travel is the tool of a weak imagination. Imagine spending the whole 90 minutes of a movie/story screwing things up...but oh wait, all I have to do is in the last ten minutes go back in time and fix everything. That card is played way too often to cover over a weak storyline.

This is likely the "Star story" you are thinking of. In this season, Q creates an alternate, dark timeline. To fix it, Picard and his crew must travel back to 2024 (which was "current day" when the show aired).

  • Q's Role: He is the catalyst for the entire journey, though his motives are mysterious and personal to Picard.
  • The Borg's Role: They use a Borg Queen (captured from the alternate timeline) to calculate the precise trajectory needed to slingshot around the sun and travel back in time.
