Unable to watch Max with linux chrome (under FreeBSD 14 current).

The tor browser didn't work with nowtv.it ; it should allow you to navigate anonimously, but this is not true. I will not use it.
I ran the test with Firefox running under Linux with a Windows user agent : the result is that nothing says that I'm using Linux instead of Windows, but it deserves more attention.

… FreeBSD 14 current …

Did you mean 15.0-CURRENT?

Re: <https://support.itv.com/en_us/how-d...settings-to-be-able-to-play-content-HJor9zifo> I have the required allowance at chrome://settings/content/protectedContent but no playback at e.g. <https://www.itv.com/watch> (signed in).

Code:

My bad sorry, 14-STABLE.

Sorry for not replying sooner,

I'm not able to see the content of that site under Linux with Firefox...

There's a prompt to enable DRM, after which playback succeeds (for me, as a signed-in user).

Pictured: Firefox ESR on Sparky Linux. I assume that Firefox will be similarly capable.

What about to start a VPN in the UK,then ?

You could, I guess, if you want to watch ITVX content.

I threw it in to discussion, as an example, only because I already had an account and for me (above) it does not work with the port of Chromium; I don't expect it to.

itv works for me with chromium and widevine

i dont really watch itv or as i prefer to call it chavtv
because its more geared to people who read the tabloids, wear shell suits and drink in weatherspoons

that may be a bit unkind
but back in the 80s and 90s itv used to make good programs

good comedy, dramas, current affairs

i prefer Channel 4

I can recommend Black Jesus with Charlie Murphy (Eddie Murphys Brother)

Most streaming services in the UK tend to block vpn address
but you may find a vpn that works but i wouldnt bother just to watch ITV

I'm guessing it's a bit of an arms race right now... the unix.stackexchange link that was shared in this thread pointed to an interesting FF 113 bug... There's basically other ways to spoof the OS the browser is running on, but messing with that causes TikTok video search to break, as per that bug report that I linked to. The workaround is to pay attention and make sure the UA matches that 'other way'.

I personally don't care about TikTok, but I have to ask: If that does break, what else will?

And no, I have no idea if that bug got fixed in later versions or not. Sometimes a bug report is closed as 'Not a bug', although this one is still open at this time.
