Porting Ubuntu 10.04 ambiance theme

Does anyone know how to fix Ubuntu's new gtk theme for freebsd? I commented some things out in their theme to get it to load but the text doesn't blend in with the background colors when you click on a menu. (see here where i right clicked on a folder: http://i39.tinypic.com/nf4lg5.png)

BTW here's my gtkrc (using murrine gtk): http://pastebin.com/zcFvVbB3

Some things that I had to comment out was
Code:
arrowstyle
comboboxstyle
border_shades
border_colors
contrast
highlight_shade
lightborder_shade
prelight_shade
separatorstyle
shadow_shades
trough_shades
textstyle

You got much further than I did. As an interim solution, I just used the mono-dark icon set and Ambiance top bar to customize the shiki-colors (human) theme. It's a similar flavor, but not quite the same. I'd be interested in hearing a better solution.
