I have just installed X on top of 9.0 RC1 amd64.
Most things seem to work but I am having some problems with the display. I originally thought it might be a dbus problem but an earlier post revealed that it was not.
I cannot add a pager to the menu bar to give me access to multiple desktops: if I try, nothing happens, yet other widgets add themselves ok. There is some other odd behaviour too: konsole mostly appears briefly but then dies again (though occasionally it runs).
Other things seem to work without any problem, eg firefox, basic xterm, etc.
One thing that might be an issue: because mouse and keyboard did not work by default, I created a basic xorg.conf file to stop the autodetect feature. I have not added anything else to it. There is nothing that I can see in the handbook to indicate that I need to add anything for multiple desktops though.
.xsession-errors shows lots of geometry error messages etc: file attached.
