general/other Installing Debian through debootstrap

Having only recently heard about sysutils/debootstrap, I was wondering if I could install it from FreeBSD onto a freshly formatted ext4 partition and have a bootable Debian partition. Assuming I manage to get the root filesystem installed, can I just copy the appropriate initrd and vmlinuz to /boot on the ext4 partition and boot Debian?

It's using ZFS but you can probably get some hints from it.
