FreeBSD VBox Guest: mouse click delay using Xfce4.8

Not sure if this is related to Xfce4.8, Xorg, VirtualBox, or some combination thereof, but I seem to be experiencing an odd mouse-click delay, which is most obvious when starting a new Xfce4.8 desktop session.

For example, clicking on an application from the menu or double-clicking on a desktop icon will not result in an immediate response, but the operation will complete after a significant delay or after clicking again on the icon/menu item. This behavior seems to disappear shortly after initializing the desktop, but it is still kind of annoying. Any ideas?

If it helps, I will supply the contents of my xorg.conf file:

Also, my version of X:

Code:
X.Org X Server 1.7.7
Release Date: 2010-05-04
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
Build Operating System: FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE amd64
Current Operating System: FreeBSD freebsd 9.0-RELEASE FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE #0: Tue Jan 3 07:46:30 UTC
2012 root@farrell.cse.buffalo.edu:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64

Other than that, my first experience with FreeBSD is going swimmingly! :)
