Using internal bluetooth capabilities on a laptop

I have an ASUS X405U laptop, which has an internal bluetooth adapter. The official guide and forum posts say that the way to use bluetooth is via a dongle. I was curious if there is any possibility to use the internal bluetooth adapter of a laptop?
 
Some internal BT are USB. Like my AX211 from Intel:

I had BT headphones work in a Lenovo T520 a few years ago. But the music was very low. Then upgraded to 15.0 and the recipe did not work at all. The recipe I followed was from FreeBSD Forum. The BT chip was internal and Broadcom. So, they took out some drive or library in FreeBSD 14,1
 
Does anyone have bluetooth working on a ThinkPad w520?

I just checked to see if some bluetooth capabilty exists and found

What should I be able to do as a minimum to try and test if I can pair with anything?

Bluetooth has always been something I have avoided on FreeBSD and it's time I tried to get it working.
 
According to https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/handbook/advanced-networking/#network-bluetooth

I need to load the ng_ubt driver in /boot/loader.conf although i don't have it set yet ng_ubt.ko is loaded along with various other bluetooth modules when I run kldstat.

If anyone has bt working, can you provide a simple example of paring with something since I'm not really sure how to proceed in finding other bt devices and can't make any sense of how to start the the bt stack - not even sure what it is...
