I was wondering why there is a port of www/onlyoffice-documentserver but not for the desktop editors suite.

Well, since the desktop variant incorporate parts of onlyoffice-documentserver, it makes sense to first try to port the server side.
This gives the ability to use it for Nextcloud with the onlyoffice plugin, or another server if it implements the correct API.
The frontend for the desktop editors seems to be a Qt application, so one have to try to build it first before trying to add it to the port tree.

I used the Linux app for years and it's a completely separated and standalone app, much better than Libreoffice IMHO, especially with regards to the Microsoft compatibility. I installed the Windows app on my daughter's Win11 laptop that she uses for homework and stuff and she can open and write perfectly even the latest Microsoft Word and PowerPoint documents.

Unfortunately, this is the next "desktop" app using JavaScript. Programmers became lazy and don't create native UI. Then they compare with MS Office and claim that "our product is almost the same". It is "almost the same" if somebody test it for 30 seconds and don't use it anymore or never used Excel.

Hey Maxfx. I was able to get your ports of cef and onlyoffice running successfully. Very cool. The only real problem was the excessive time it took to compile cef. It took days on my ThinkPad. It will be easier when cef is available as an official package. Thank you for your hard work!

I don’t use Adobe products and really only use GIMP when needed but would love a FreeBSD PDF editor to be able to manipulate PDF documents in a GUI including text editing. Looks like ArtCraft has PDF Craft and GitHub lists FreeBSD but alas I heard it was all coded via AI.

There are mixed reports about how well all that *Craft stuff works. You need to try them.

Still seem to have rough edges when I tried graphics/photocraft (at least 0.9.0).
All CJK characters in menus are rendered as so-called "Tofu" (rectangle place holder character) regardless Japanese, Hangul or Chinese and would be hard to find where to switch to English (or any other western SBCS languages) via menus.
(Easy to find the relevant part in ~/.config/photocraft/preferences.json, though.)
But rendered sanely in images to be edited with "T" icon. Menus alone are abnormally rendered. Maybe anyone in Western languages would never notice.
Installing fonts they state they're using didn't help. And overriding locale to different encodings (UTF-8 to SJIS or eucJP) via env(1) didn't help, too. Sigh.
