Solved Issue with Wifi

Hello, I just installed FreeBSD a lot of time because of a issue with the wifi. I installed the disc.iso version because it had everything to install but I couldn't connect to wifi with wpa supplicant in post installation, then I reinstalled with the bootonly.iso version and when I got to the Networking configuration part it was just saying
"no interface specified for ipv4" and "no interface specified for ipv6". In post installation of the disc.iso everytime i run "ifconfig" some weird interface gets displayed.
When I run pciconf -lv
I only see one thing with the network class which is what Im supposed to look for according go freebsd installation guide

Intel WiFi 6 AX201 160MHZ

… freebsd 13.1rc4, just installed it with no issues

👍 you can add the Solved prefix.

Generally

why does linux support it but freebsd?

It's sometimes not simple to take software that's developed for Linux (for example, a driver for Wi-Fi hardware) and make it work for, or with, FreeBSD.

Linux aside: someone recently wondered why FreeBSD and OpenBSD seem to not have a shared approach to drivers.

More generally, you might find these useful, if you haven't already seen them:
