Solved How can I add comments on command prompt with tcsh

I have a bunch of computers that are turned off. I use wake to revive them.

Example with altered MACs

wake 00:07:32:77:92:2B
wake CA:84:69:7B:12:5C
wake 00:0b:ab:cc:b0:2f
wake fa:12:29:00:98:be
wake d0:50:99:dc:d1:a7

How am I supposed to know what MAC is what computer?

Tried this:
wake 48:21:0b:32:88:c6 // NUC11
wake 48:21:0b:32:88:c6 //*NUC11*//
wake 48:21:0b:32:88:c6 :: NUC11

So with interactive shell tcsh this is not possible? I use history with its shell completion so comments would be nice.

in an interactive shell you can do this
Code:
wake de:ad:be:ef:69:42 `: NUC69`
this works because : is the null command, and substitutes to nothing. if you want to be stylish, you could even do
Code:
wake de:ad:be:ef:69:42 `: NUC69 :`
to give a vague suggestion of /* */ syntax

Stupidly I thought of just hacking the comments into the history file. History/Shell Completion might not work but will remind me of the right name.

All my reading on stack exchange only showed the "echo" method which seems too harsh.

I grew up on FreeBSD tcsh so I find it reasonable. I know no better. I have adopted it.

I will test this method ASAP and report back.

This works. Both versions. I am not a shell expert but it looks spectacular from here. Least character wins.
wake 77:88:99:dc:d1:aa `: Silver:`
wake 77:88:99:dc:d1:bb `: Gold`
Defiantly needed that space before the comment.

Thanks atax1a that was a winner. I will mark this solved after a comment period.
