drm and amdgpu hangs on renoir

I get seconds up to minute long hangs nearly every time I switch tabs on firefox or start mpv or any other program that apparently uses graphics

CPU goes up to 99% for Xorg and mpv or firefox etc.

The longer the system is up the worse it gets.

Code:

14.1-PRERELEASE #106 stable/14-n267475-f4ccd1122a79

The problem exists at least since 14.0 and drm-515.

Seems not. I removed it and everything works, now I have to wait if it gets bad again ...

No it doesn't change it. I now waited 10 seconds for mpv to start playing while CPU is up.

mpv with -vo x11 seems better but just starts getting bad later.

drm-61-kmod-6.1.69_2
I had similar problems on 14.0-RELEASE with graphics/drm-515-kmod and graphics/drm-61-kmod on 14.0-STABLE, programs taking longer to react in time.

Try graphics/drm-510-kmod. It should work on 14.1-PRERELEASE.

My systems GPU on 14.0-RELEASE-p6

Which GPU have you exactly?

I had the same problems with 510 before on 14.0.
The problem still exists. Just now it hung for 15 seconds when starting mpv.

The problem seems to be firefox with its 100+ (but unloaded) tabs. Why can this block the whole X server?

For me, I have similar behaviour on my system, long after I sudo pkill firefox.
Only solution is shutdown -r now
Then it will be good for some time again, until it start to act up again.

Maybe too soon to assume Firefox as a root cause.

More than nine hundred tabs, here, at the time of writing, with Firefox very heavily extended.

Maybe too soon to assume Firefox as a root cause.

It's 100% not caused by Firefox.
At least not the root cause.

As I wrote, a reboot solves the problem. For a while. But it reappears, even if I don't start firefox et al.

Firefox just helps the problem to reoccur faster. But it's not the root causeml.

Not crazy, maybe coincidence.

I had two or three extension-related incidents in recent weeks.

32 extension? Mate you are looking for trouble.
I am not an expert but for me each extension installed is a bit of your privacy that goes away (cf. permissions).
"Adblock Plus" AND "uBlock Origin" at the same time? Why not just pick one?

Create a new Firefox profile without any extension, run some tests.
If it goes well then install only what's important, meaning "ads blocker" + one or two other extension that you "can't live without", nothing more.

You said yourself:
The problem seems to be firefox with its 100+ (but unloaded) tabs
So I reacted to your FF settings, conflicts can possibly exist, that's why I said to run some tests with a fresh clean FF profile and then you could make some conclusion.
Other idea, do the same tests but with Chromium instead of Firefox to check if your system hangs or not.
If still not okay, you can compare your settings with nxjoseph which stated not having the trouble you faced while using the same iGPU.

Ok I disabled all but 5 addons just to prove it doesn't really matter, and it doesn't.
Just now I waited for 2 or 3 minutes until the system recovered after I opened a Lenovo website.
During that I had 2 threads of 100% firefox and 100% Xorg.

I flashed the BIOS (new April version), and changed graphics memory from 512kB to 2048. Now it runs smoothly for 2 hours. Is that it?
No, it only takes longer.
