Disabled Keyboard and Mouse on Boot of Desktop Login Manager

I had been using a Gnome3 build with absolutely no issues for over a year. However, after rebooting my laptop today the Gnome login manager opens but the keyboard and mouse suddenly become disabled. After hard reboot, I then logged in via single user mode and switched the desktop manager to the Mate DM and Slim login manager, then rebooted. When booting back into multi user mode the Slim login manager was presented on the screen, but resulted in the same problem: keyboard and mouse disabled and not able to interact with the login window.

Fortunately, I can disable the DM and login as a user and interact with the OS via terminal (keyboard and mouse are functional). Thus able to backup files, make changes, etc.

This is a System76 laptop with FreeBSD 13.1-Release-p9 amd64.
I ran a pkg upgrade command today and something must have become corrupted.

I’m not sure where to go from here. Please help.
