Gpk-update-icon almost hangs the system in usermode

Hi all,

When I try to run my system as user the system almost hangs. Is there a way to cancel out or remove the gpk-update program? I have watched the processes and the gpk-update process is constantly retrying to run and it almost freezes the system.

I would very much appreciate a few tips on this matter.

I am running FreeBSD 8.2 RC3 with gnome 2.32.

All the best

Tommy

I'm having the same problem. Logging in as root works fine but if I login as a regular user, a few seconds after logging in, there is a torrent of gpk-update-icon calls. As an example, the following command:
Code:
ps -ax | grep gpk-update-icon | wc -l
...returned 291 at one point.

Please help.

Oh my, you can't be serious. ;-) That's not a solution to the problem, or is it? I'm frustrated... Is there a way of turning gpk-update off? I am experiencing the same problem as rexpretor.
