Problem seem to be related to IPv6 in jail.
For me IPv6 services inside jails now work as expected by setting the value of net.inet6.ip6.dad_count to 0.
sysctl net.inet6.ip6.dad_count=0

Unfortunately, I am facing the same problem and have no solution. What I think is going on is that networking is not available at the moment the nginx service inside the jail is being started.
When I restart a jail, the service is not started because it cannot bind to the IP.
As a sort of...
Hi,
During install you will get the option to set up the network. In the Proxmox web interface you can also select VirtIO for network instead of E1000 if you're installing FreeBSD 9.2-RELEASE. But if you've set up your network correctly both should work fine in FreeBSD.
@EGS, here is the answer to all your questions:
Use FreeBSD and you will stop worrying and comparing.
Use Linux and you will always be worrying and comparing.
Hope this helps ;)
This must be some kind of joke :)
# pkg help autoremove
Output
-y Assume yes when asked for confirmation before package autoremoval.
-n Dry-run mode. The list of changes to packages is always printed, but
no changes are actually made.
When I use zsh TAB completion...
Hi,
Like all services on FreeBSD you need to 'enable' it in rc.conf.
echo "unrealircd_enable=\"YES\"" >> /etc/rc.conf
If you want to run it as a specific user
echo "unrealircd_user=\"ircd\"" >> /etc/rc.conf
Then start unreal
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/unrealircd start
If your...
Hi,
I always use the help switch for things like this, because I am too lazy to remember those options ;)
pw group mod help
usage: pw groupmod [group|gid] [switches]
-V etcdir alternate /etc location
-C config configuration file
-q quiet operation
-F...
Hi,
The freebsd-update(8) utility has a builtin IDS and can detect modified files from the base system. See Chapter 25.2.4 from the FreeBSD Handbook for a way to compare the installed system against a known good copy.
In the ports collection there are some rootkit scanners but this is not a...
Hi,
head -3 /usr/local/etc/hiawatha/php-fcgi.conf.sample
# PHP FastCGI configuration
# !! Warning, this tool is deprecated. Use php-fpm instead.
Just use php-fpm instead. Take a good look at php-fcgi.sock. The php-fcgi.sock location in /usr/local/etc/hiawatha/hiawatha.conf should match...
People behave different when they know they are being watched. Now, I don't like being watched all of the time because it makes me behave different. Not everyone is susceptible to this, but some people are.
Try iRedMail
I can suggest to try an installation of iredmail in a FreeBSD jail. It will almost automatically setup and configure your web, mail and database. You can then take a good look at the configuration files and modify it for your own use or use it as a base for setting up your...
Somehow the discussion is leading to what should be the new init system. But shouldn't the order of discussion be:
1. WHY
2. What
3. How
I fail to see number 1. Why should there be a change ?
Couple of weeks ago I started using Amanda for doing daily offline backups. Amanda is configured with dump for / /usr /var. Directories I want to exclude (like /usr/ports) have the nodump fllag set. For jails Amanda is configured to use gnutar with an exclude list.
Last week I had freezes using Amanda dump. Only on one partition (643G) with 24G in use. I couldn't locate the problem, in stead I thought it would be the combination of big partition+active/encrypted jails causing problems. I managed to reproduce it and system just hangs, finally locking myself...
