Howdy
I think I understand you. I have been looking at what you mean by "I would do a source-based upgrade " and I from what I can see this requires that I get SVN and run this command svn checkout http://svn.FreeBSD.org/base/stable/8 /usr/src as explained in this URL to get the most recent...
Hello
I would like to update a minimal FreeBSD 8.3-RELEASE installation to a more recent 8.3 version on a server that is not connected to the Internet. The reason is to get a more recent CISS driver to see it resolves issues I am having with a server failing.
I was looking at building a VM with...
All the other /dev/dsp devices would result in a device busy message. This ended up doing the trick and working to record the stream comming in on cable straight to the mp3 file.
ffmpeg -f oss -i /dev/dsp0.2 -vn -acodec libmp3lame -ab 128k output.mp3
Thanks
Found this in some archive - looks promising - will give it a go. Maybe ffmpeg was all I needed. Even has the correct arguemnt fo mp3 output.
ffmpeg -f oss -i /dev/dsp0.0 -vn -acodec libmp3lame -ab 128k output.mp3
Will capture the output of your sound card and encode to 128k .mp3 in the above...

Hello There
I am trying to record a tape using my microphone jack and was looking to do all the input and conversion to mp3 in one swoop.
All the bits seem to work and I can use audacity to record but I was trying to use something like the tccat command below.
The ffmpeg stuff works fine and...
Hello
Thanks. In my earlier post I meant I have rebooted the whole FreeBSD host machine a couple of times and the problem persists. I also tried the load and unload but I expect a reboot would have done this anyway.
I do see these messages in the syslog which looks like the problem mentioned in...
Hello
I built a new machine FreeBSD 8.2 and installed Virtualbox 3.1.12 (I think) and added a guest OS. I then upgraded all my ports using portupgrade and Virtualbox (4.0.8).version no longer will start the guest OS. I have tried installing the guest OS but get the same error. Have tried...

Hello
I am trying to make and install openoffice.org-3 from ports on FreeBSD 8.1-Release and it requires tzupdater-1_3_29-2010f.zip. Unfortunatly the recommend site only has tzupdater-1_3_34-2010o.zip.
It there an alternative site or a way to disable the need for it?
Thanks

Yep I have managed to get xcalc up and running using the ssh method but not the xhost method.
Using ssh method I run theis command on 10.1.1.77 laptop
ssh fred@10.1.1.1 xcalc
Xcalc starts and I can telnet to the 10.1.1.1 desktop and to a ps command to confirm xcalc is running there but...
Howdy - thanks
I thought I would have had a X server running as I am running KDE desktop on the laptop which I thought would need an X server to run. (I may be wrong).
I am not too concerned with security as the devices are not on the internet yet and I am just saving some work walking up...
Hello and thanks in advance for any help.
Remote X Applications
I would like to run the kmail appliation on the desktop machine from my laptop.
From what I have read in the posts there seems to be two ways to do it.
Over ssh and another way using xhosts and Display settings.

Sorry this is not specific to the particular controller but I thought I would post it here as I spend a fair bit of time looking at disk speeds and I use the diskinfo command.
I hope to see in excess of 100mb (100 000 kbytes/sec) for outside middle and inside otherwise I suspect a nasty raid...
Hello
I am investigating purchasing a Dell R510 with the PERC 6i controller and additional battery backup module.
I can see that the mfi driver supports the PERC 6 controller but I am not sure if the 6i is supported.
Does anybody have experience with these servers running the PERC 6i...
Hello and thanks for any information you may offer. I hope this is the best forum to post this question.
I would like to know if it is possible to configure syslogd on FreeBSD 7.2 to log messages to remote servers over TCP instead of UDP and any implications this may have.
