Does a website to browse the ports collection exist?

Maybe I do understand your question the wrong way, but I think the FreeBSD project site offers this information in the desired way. You can e.g. browse ports by category: listed by locigal group. mousaka

    Can I disable cron?

Some of the jobs defined in periodic (daily, weekls, monthly) are quite useful, e.g. updating the locate database, backing up users and groups, ... Cron runs the periodic scripts at 3 o'clock in the morning, I assume that your desktop box usually isn't powered on at this time during night...

    Can I disable cron?

I would recommend to use sysutils/anacron instead of cron and then, as you proposed, disable cron in /etc/rc.conf with cron_enable="NO" mousaka

    nanobsd not booting

What is not working? The memory device (md) can only be used within a running system, not as boot device. This give you only the possibility to edit the image (/usr/obj/nanobsd.full/_.disk.full) before writing it to the flash disk (before dd command). mousaka

    nanobsd not booting

I assume you can successfully boot from other USB devices. E.g. try the memstick Image from FreeBSD with the same flash drive. The dd command should write the correct MBR as well. Did you set NANO_BOOTLOADER to boot/boot0 or have a serial connection established during boot? Else you won't...

Is sound possible in Xorg on FreeBSD?

More installation troubles: ZFS on 8.0

That's good to know. Some weeks ago (8.0-Beta2) I was following the guide from Beat Gätzi (in German), and did have to start over as well. Deleting the GUID partition table did work for me, without deleting the last sectors. The above guide has some slight differences to the one in the...

More installation troubles: ZFS on 8.0

To start completely over, you must delete the partition table. Run the following commands before step 3 in the mentioned guide: # dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/ad0 bs=1k count 1 # dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/ad1 bs=1k count 1 mousaka
