    ZFS v15 Upgrade Issue

My kernel is also 8.1 I don't really understand how that is possible, i haven't compiled the kernel myself and I used the standard upgrading procedure which should have upgraded the kernel as the first step (before upgrading the userland). Very weird. But now at least it can be solved. :)

    ZFS v15 Upgrade Issue

I can confirm this as well. For other reasons I exported and imported most of my pools, but that didn't help either (not that I really expected it to).

    XBMC for FreeBSD

Since this is a top hit on google i'm bumping this. http://www.freshports.org/multimedia/xbmc/ <- xbmc is now in ports. I haven't installed/tested it. YMMV.

    ZFS performance degradation over time

Is there a bug report for this patch?

    ZFS performance degradation over time

Nope, nfs only. But the problem happens even if i boot into single mode. Without nfs i get the same problem. Samba isn't even installed.

    ZFS performance degradation over time

Done and done. Well, i currently have an uptime of 21 days, which is bound to be a record on this system. I still have 1132M marked as Active, though i can't see what could possibly be using it. But for now, it looks usable.

    ZFS performance degradation over time

I am getting the problem with "Active" memory, not from rtorrent(which i do have, but there is no correlation between usage and memory usage). During testing i have also disabled rtorrent and sabnzbd+, and just done a cp from a UFS disk to a ZFS disk(or from ZFS to ZFS for that matter), and...

    ZFS performance degradation over time

Oh, and setting arc min and arc max to the new values(which were higher than my original) did naught.

    ZFS performance degradation over time

    I noticed a funny thing while moving data from a UFS(ad22) drive to a zraid drive(ad12,14,16,18). gstat output dT: 1.003s w: 1.000s L(q) ops/s r/s kBps ms/r w/s kBps ms/w %busy Name -snip- 4 278 2 128 6.2 270 1894 9.0 72.9| ad12 6 182...

Agreed. Something that might help ease the pain a bit, would be something like ionice(for when moving stuff around). But, i haven't been able to find anything like it for freebsd yet.

    ZFS performance degradation over time

Since you are saying 2GB that only applies to me i think. Those values are way higher than what i currently have for arc. but i'll try them anyways. Currently it's at vfs.zfs.arc_min: 53856640 vfs.zfs.arc_max: 430853120

    ZFS performance degradation over time

No suggestions, but i have exactly the same problem as you do. All my hardware is different, but the setup is mostly the same(small file server, only used by me, etc). One thing i have found is that "top" will say "Mem: 962M Active" even when i have closed all programs, and nothing should be...

Freeze i can't debug - i can change VT, but nothing more.

Just an update. I haven't done the serial thing yet. BUT, i got an entirely new server, mirrored everything over to it. and the same thing happens on the new server, which means this is not a hardware issue. Which i had kinda hoped.

Nothing in messages, i will try your suggestions. Thanks.

Freeze i can't debug - i can change VT, but nothing more.

I've tested the ram, no go. Since I'm still fairly lost, but have gotten a hold of another computer, i think I'll mirror the OS drives to the new computer, and move some of the components slowly, to see which ones crash when.

Hm, i can't edit my previous post. ad14 has been pulled before, the freeze happens without it.

Freeze i can't debug - i can change VT, but nothing more.

I'm having some stability problems with my freebsd install. Because of the nature of the freeze i don't really have that much info to give. I haven't found a way to trigger the freeze. It occurs randomly(as far as i can see), and my highest uptime since i started monitoring has been about a...
