    I actually wanted the mysql database to be located at /usr/mysql. I copied the database from /var/db/mysql to /usr/mysql then ran: ln -s /usr/mysql /var/db/mysql And it worked. I *think* it wasn't working because /usr/mysql did not exist?? Not sure..

    You do realize that the nessus port is very old right? Since it went commercial it's no longer maintained. The current port is 2.2.9. You are probably better off just going to their website.

    I would set static IP's then use traffic shaping/QoS on a router. I use FreeBSD for my firewalls and servers but I use vyatta for my routers which is capable of doing what you want (rate limiting). What are you using for your router?

    What is the reasoning behind dividing the bandwidth? Are you trying to throttle certain types of traffic? Have you looked at Quality of Service or web proxies?
